Brief introduction of inclined pond

Xietang Town is located in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China. The place name of Xietang Town was first seen in the literature more than 760 years ago during the Chunyou period of the Southern Song Dynasty. This is an old brand with a long history. The original Xietang market was in the area of Jin Wang Tomb Village. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the market moved to the north of Xietang River to form a market town. At the beginning of Qing Dynasty, due to the prosperity of commerce and the increase of population, Xietang market town was generally divided into two parts by the Tang Zhong River, commonly known as South Xietang and North Xietang. Beixietang was destroyed by war in Xianfeng period, and Nanxietang was built by Jinji Lake Dam, and the economy gradually prospered, forming a famous market with many shops, which is now Xietang Old Street. In the early years of the Republic of China, Wuxian government set up Xietang township government office in Nanxiaotang. 1930, merchants from Xietang raised funds to build the "Bridge for the People", which made it convenient for people on the south bank of Xietang River to shop in the old street, and it was once quite prosperous.
