When is the Gannan Traditional Shambhala Tourism Art Festival held?

July 17th to 19th every year

The largest comprehensive tourism festival in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The midsummer festivals are held in turns in each county every year. The main venue is located in the beautiful local grassland. The festival aims to promote the traditional Tibetan culture and guide people to return to nature and dialogue while establishing a relationship between people and between people and nature. The beautiful, harmonious and trusting relationship then enables people to establish a conscious awareness of loving their homeland, loving the motherland, maintaining national unity, and protecting the spiritual civilization and behavioral ethics of ecology and wild animals.

During the Art Festival, countless tents will be spread out on the quiet grassland overnight. Early the next morning, various large-scale artistic performances will kick off the Art Festival. There is a majestic cavalry of thousands of people, like a soaring dragon, kicking passionately, and the mighty and vigorous knights reproduce the heroic appearance and majesty of King Gesar; the entire festival is grand, warm, solemn and peaceful. During the festival, officials and people from all walks of life in Maqu build large tents on the grassland, invite relatives and friends to gather, and enjoy singing, dancing and entertainment.
