Tibetan areas in China, except Xizang Autonomous Region, are mainly distributed in Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu provinces, which are called "Tibetan areas in four provinces".

Understanding Tibetan Areas
The three major Tibetan areas in China are Weizang, Kangba and Amdo, and it is bordered by Kyushu in the East. According to the provincial level, there are Yunnan Tibetan areas, Sichuan Tibetan areas, Gansu Tibetan areas, Qinghai Tibetan areas and Tibet. Weizang refers to Lhasa and Xigaze in Tibet, and Kangba refers to Qamdo in Tibet and Ganzi in Sichuan, Yushu in Qinghai and Diqing in Yunnan. Amdo refers to other Tibetan areas except Yushu in Qinghai, Gannan in Gansu and Aba in Sichuan (partially).

The two in Sichuan are Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan and Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu. According to the provincial level, there are Yunnan Tibetan areas, Sichuan Tibetan areas, Gansu Tibetan areas and Qinghai Tibetan areas.
