1. South Korea’s SBS and KBS represent different meanings.

(1) KBS is the abbreviation of Korea Broadcasting Corporation (Korean: ?/Han-guk Bangsong Gongsa, English: Korean Broadcasting System).

The predecessor of Korea Broadcasting Corporation was the Korea Broadcasting Corporation, a corporate body established during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Afterwards, after several changes, the Korea Broadcasting Corporation was reorganized into Korea Broadcasting Corporation and became the state-owned media of the Republic of Korea. On March 3, 1973, Korea Broadcasting Corporation was restructured into a public media. On December 27, 1990, KBS Channel 3 and Educational Broadcasting separated from KBS and were reorganized into Korea Educational Broadcasting Corporation.
