What is the ancient name of Xi'an?

The ancient names of Xi'an are: Fenghao, Chang'an, Daxing City, and Jingzhao Mansion.

Xi'an was first called "Fenghao" in the Western Zhou Dynasty. It was the collective name of Fengjing and Haojing built by King Wen of Zhou and King Wu of Zhou respectively. After King Wu of Zhou established the Zhou Dynasty, he built the capital in Fenghao, so it was also called "Haojing". After Liu Bang ascended the throne, Fenghao was changed to Chang'an, which means "long-lasting peace and stability".

After Wang Mang usurped the Han Dynasty, he changed Chang'an to "Chang'an" as the capital of the new dynasty, but it was not long before it was changed back to Chang'an. After the establishment of the Sui Dynasty, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty Yang Jian renamed Chang'an "Daxing City" because when he was under Emperor Ming of Zhou, he was named "Duke of Daxing". After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, the name was changed back to Chang'an.

In the Yuan Dynasty, Chang'an was no longer the capital and was changed to "Jingzhao Mansion", and later to Anxi Road and Fengyuan Road. It was actually changed to "Xi'an" in the Ming Dynasty, when Zhu Yuanzhang sent General Xu Da to lead troops to attack Fengyuan Road, and Fengyuan Road was renamed Xi'an Prefecture, which means "peace in the west".

History of Xi'an:

It is the first city in Chinese history to be called Beijing. It has a history of more than 3,100 years of city construction and 1,077 years of capital construction. In history, many prosperous dynasties, including Zhou, Western Han, Sui, and Tang, established their capitals here.

Thus, Xi'an witnessed the peak period of openness, extroversion, martial arts and prosperity in Chinese history, and left behind a huge amount of remains. Xi'an currently has two and six world cultural heritage sites and is also the starting point of the Overland Silk Road.
