Yuanmingyuan heyday:

After Emperor Qianlong succeeded to the throne, he adjusted the landscape of Yuanmingyuan, increased the number of architectural groups, and built Changchun Garden and Qichun Garden in the east and southeast of Yuanmingyuan, which were renamed Wanchun Garden during the Tongzhi period. These three gardens are managed by the management minister of Yuanmingyuan, and are called Yuanming Three Gardens. In the middle of Qing dynasty, the park was expanded and rebuilt many times.

The main landscape groups of the park include the famous "Forty Scenes of Yuanmingyuan", Zibi Mountain Residence, Algae Garden, Ruofan Pavilion and Wenyuan Pavilion. At that time, there were about 600 plaques hanging in the main garden buildings, which was the highest among the royal gardens in ancient and modern times. Yuanmingyuan covers an area of about 3000 mu. In each scenic spot, there are not only magnificent palaces, but also pavilions, winding bridges and flowing water, rockeries, lakes and winding rivers dotted among them. During the Yongzheng period, the pattern of Yuanmingyuan was basically completed.
