The basic pattern of Sanhe ancient town is: two sides of the outer ring and three continents in the middle. Building houses near the water, extending along the river, is long and narrow, surrounded by water on all sides, surrounded by water on three sides, and connected by rivers and lakes. The so-called "branch and Tianjin return together, and ten thousand ships can be hidden." Fengle River, Xiaonan River and Hangbu River are zigzag around the ancient town. The basic pattern of the block is taking Xiaonan River as the central axis, forming a street along the river, taking the pier as the end point and the river as the edge, radiating into several ancient commercial streets. With the "streets and lanes" as the skeleton, many narrow lanes are connected and pieces of houses are strung together. The houses in the streets and lanes are relatively regular, with a central axis and distinct edges.
