Self-guided tours in South Korea generally require proof of real estate and funds, just to prevent you from running away. . .
It used to be visa-free to Jeju Island, but there were more than 30 people in the group that came to Korea some time ago (shameful...), so I don’t know if the visa policy has changed now.
