According to the Interim Measures for the Administration of China Citizens Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao for Private Affairs approved by the State Council, the conditions for short-term travel to and from Hong Kong and Macao are:

1. If there are close relatives who have settled in Hong Kong and Macao who need to visit, they can apply for visiting relatives in Hong Kong and Macao.

The applicant shall provide the following certification materials to the accepting authority:

(1) Letters from close relatives in Hong Kong and Macao. Generally speaking, the letter should indicate that the applicant is invited or agrees to visit relatives in Hong Kong and Macao;

(2) Proof that close relatives have settled in Hong Kong and Macao (such as Hong Kong and Macao identity cards). ); Proof of kinship between the applicant and relatives in Hong Kong and Macao (such as notarial certificate, marriage certificate, etc.). ); Recent letters from relatives in Hong Kong and Macao.

2. lineal relatives of returned overseas Chinese, brothers and sisters and lineal relatives of overseas Chinese cannot go back to the mainland to visit relatives. If they have to meet in Hong Kong, they can apply to visit relatives in Hong Kong. Applicants are required to submit proof that foreign relatives have come to Hong Kong. That is, letters and telegrams are provided to meet foreign relatives, and "entry permits" are issued to foreign relatives to enter Hong Kong. Chinese mainland citizens go to work in Hongkong.

(1) Go to Hong Kong to be employed by a private company in Hong Kong.

1. The employer holds the attached Application Form for Migrant Workers and the Preliminary Application Form, and then submits them to the Hong Kong Immigration Department together with other supporting documents for approval. These supporting documents include:

(1) business registration certificate;

(2) Company registration certificate;

(3) The latest financial report;

(4) A detailed list of local workers and their wages;

2. The employer will be directly informed of the result of the preliminary application.

Once the initial application is approved, the employer shall arrange for the workers to submit a formal visa application.

Generally speaking, visa applications should be submitted to the Hong Kong Immigration Department. The employer must also arrange for workers to sign 1 labor contracts.

5. After receiving the visa application, the Director of Immigration will ask the employer to fill in the L guarantee. Employers may need to provide more information or go to the immigration office for an interview.

6. Employers and employees will be informed of the application results.

7. Apply for extension of stay in Hong Kong.

Workers may apply to the Immigration Department for extension of stay after entering the country. If the situation remains the same, you can be allowed to extend your stay for 6 months or until the deadline stipulated in the contract is completed. Every worker has to pay the lost time, and the lost time must be paid by the employer.

(2) Going to Hong Kong at the invitation of foreign-funded enterprises and institutions.

1. If a foreign institution in China employs a national staff member to go to Hong Kong, the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ may go through the formalities for citizens to leave the country for personal reasons. If approved, ordinary passports will be issued for personal reasons.

When going through the exit formalities, you must submit the certificates corresponding to the reasons for leaving the country, which refer to the overseas invitation certificate, employment agency certificate and employee work permit. It should also submit the opinion certificate of the original unit on the exit of employees. If there is no work unit, it must be submitted to the local police station, sub-district office or township (town) people's government to prove the opinions of employees leaving the country.

2. Foreign-funded enterprises in China send Chinese employees to Hong Kong and Macao to engage in business activities due to their business needs. First, it must be reported to the economic and trade department of the local people's government or the institution designated by the people's government for examination, and then it can apply to the exit-entry administration department of the local public security organ for going to Hong Kong and Macao by itself or by entrusting relevant units. At the time of bidding, the certificates corresponding to the reasons for leaving the country refer to the examination certificates of relevant institutions of the people's government, certificates of foreign-funded enterprises, certificates of overseas invitations, certificates of opinions of local police stations or neighborhood offices or township (town) people's governments on employees leaving the country, etc.

3. The term of office of a unit in China ranges from 1 to 2 years. They are permanent holders of official passports, valid for up to five years. After the expiration, it can be extended according to the situation, up to 2 times. If you go back to China and change your passport with the relevant unit, you can also work in Hongkong again.

People who go to Hong Kong for short-term work for business reasons, such as taking part in certain activities, training in institutions, studying in universities, etc. Their temporary business passports are valid for 1 month to 2 years, during which only 1 entry and exit is allowed. A business passport holder who stays in Hong Kong for half a year will be issued a temporary id card issued by the Hong Kong government. Both permanent residence and temporary residence need to leave after the extension period expires.

Generally speaking, mainlanders who hold China business passports and are sent to work in Hong Kong cannot apply for Hong Kong permanent identity cards from the Immigration Department even if they have lived in Hong Kong for seven years. The longest stay is 15 years.
