China Central Radio Station (Chinese Pinyin: Zhongyang Guangbo Diantai English: Central Radio Station, referred to as Central Radio Station, was a radio station established after the Nationalist Government established Nanjing as its capital. On August 1, 1928, the 17th year of the Republic of China, Central Radio Station officially broadcast in Nanjing.
This is the successor of the Central News Agency (founded in Guangzhou on April 1, 13th year of the Republic of China, and moved to Nanjing in the 16th year of the Republic of China) and "Central Daily News" (founded in Shanghai on January 1, 17th year of the Republic of China) by the Kuomintang authorities. Moved to Nanjing in November of the same year and published in Nanjing on February 1 of the following year), the third national central propaganda agency founded.
China Central Radio is affiliated to the Central Propaganda Department of the Kuomintang, and its first director is Xu Enzeng. All press releases broadcast by the radio station are provided by the Central News Agency. When there are major political events, the radio station will do its best to broadcast them. It is truly the "mouthpiece of the party and state".
In April 1927, after the Nationalist Government established its capital in Nanjing, it felt deeply that "our party has established the Jianghuai River and moved to the north. It is eager to instill doctrine and publicize it without delay." In March 1928, the Central Executive Committee meeting of the Kuomintang decided to establish the Central Broadcasting Station, with Chen Guofu responsible for the preparations. After the meeting, a 500-watt medium-wave transmitter and two 140-foot-tall self-standing iron towers were purchased from Shanghai American Merchant, as well as a 5-kilowatt gasoline power supply. In May, the southwest corner of the backyard of the Kuomintang Central Party Headquarters in Dingjiaqiao, Nanjing was determined as the site for the platform, where a machine room was built and an iron tower was installed.
