Fenglongshan Grottoes.

There are two caves in Fenglongshan (the junction of Yuanshi County and Luquan City), one in Xishitang Courtyard at the west foot of Fenglongshan and the other in Dongshitang Courtyard at the east foot of Fenglongshan. The statues in Dongshitang yard were all destroyed.

There are three caves in Xishi Tangyuan, which are numbered one, two and three respectively from west to east. Cave 1 is the third Buddha cave, with Sakyamuni Buddha in the main niche, Maitreya Buddha in the future in the right niche and Amitabha Buddha in the past in the left niche. In addition to the three main buddhas, there are more than 90 small shrines carved on the cave wall. The second cave is the Thousand Buddha Cave, and the sitting statue is the statue of Sakyamuni. The walls of the cave are carved with rows of small Buddha statues criss-crossing from top to bottom, with a total of 847.

Judging from the carving contents and techniques, the excavation time of the cave was slightly later than that of the No.1 cave, which was about the early Tang Dynasty. The No.3 Cave is a Nirvana Cave, and there is a Nirvana statue of Sakyamuni carved in it, which is from the Northern Song Dynasty in terms of carving techniques.

The cliff on the east side of Xishi Tangyuan is engraved with the words "Wuping three-year autumn ceremony", which is a strong evidence that the grottoes were dug in the Northern Qi Dynasty. 1956 was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Hebei province. In 20 13, it was announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
