Dr. Lin Liangchuan
Director of Rongchun Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic Once I went for a massage, and the masseur was going to do cupping for me, but I quickly refused! He said that his pulling method is different and it won’t turn out black circles. He must give me a try! He pricked me in many places on my shoulders, neck and upper arms. He used a suction-type cupping device. When the can was tightly sucked, he pulled on the can a few times. Within a few seconds, he pulled the plug and removed the can. After he pulled it out, I felt a relaxing and comfortable feeling in my upper back. At that time, a sudden realization came to me, and I thought, yes, this is the cupping method that conforms to my usual thoughts. General cupping, whether it is a suction cup or a cupping cup, usually stays on the skin for a period of time. The skin is tightened to change the tension of the entire fascial system. Because the entire fascia is pulled and pulled, the muscles in it will naturally be pulled. And change the position and tension in the three-dimensional space. If the muscles or tendons in a certain part or joint have reached the limit of their ability to compensate, pain will occur if additional tension is added to the joint. At this time, cupping is performed near the local area where the muscles contract the most and the tightest mass is found. Then the tension of the entire muscle group will be forced to change, and the muscles or fascia on the painful joints will be slightly cushioned and the pain will be relieved. It will drop a lot. If other muscles that cause abnormal tension in the system are also relaxed through cupping to loosen the fascia in their bags, the pain tolerance will change even more. Of course, you can also directly apply cupping to the tightest part of the muscle that directly causes pain, then hold it still, and then ask the patient to get up and move, because part of the fascia is pulled and displaced, and when the whole body moves, the fascia will be redistributed and changed. , so the effect on pain will be better. However, there are two problems with this. The first is that if the suction and extraction time is too long, the subcutaneous tissue may easily cause some minor and imperceptible damage, but it is fibrosis that is not easy to recover. Another problem is that this adjustment method is also an expectant one, which is to let the fascia slide on its own. Although there are changes, they are not restoration under the clear control of the doctor. Therefore, although the symptoms will be relieved at the moment, they will not be restored again. The chance of making it is also high. So how can we use the cupping method to achieve meaningful restoration that is relatively clear and under the control of the doctor? Let’s talk! The Department of Health defines cupping as a non-medical behavior, which is actually a good thing. It gives many private medical practitioners more vitality. Having tools to use is always much less labor-intensive than using bare hands. Just like Dugu Qiufeng in "The Swordsman", all plants and trees can be used as soldiers. Cupping can of course be used as an effective and precise treatment tool when the cause of the body's fascia transition is understood. We hope that this can be controlled by Western medicine. The Department of Health under the government will never understand. Let’s first talk about the use of cupping on a single point. The so-called effect on a single point means to loosen a local joint or muscle. If you want to loosen a muscle, it should be most effective where the muscle is tightest and can change the fascia the most. When acting on joints, it is best to find places where tendons adhere to each other, or where muscles transform into tendons, such as inside elbows, knee sockets, and armpits. There are many tendon adhesions that can affect the most transformation of fascia. Although cupping in these places cannot be as precise as acupuncture, if the technique is good enough, the effect is sometimes not inferior to acupuncture. As for the so-called places near the joints where the muscles turn into tendons, such as the front of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus at the elbow, the upper edge of the patella, the upper medial and lateral sides of the knee, the front and back edges of the shoulder deltoid, etc., this is also cupping. an important choice point. The single point of cupping, as my consistent principle, is to be clear-minded and know what your hands are doing. You must first understand the muscle tension that you want to relieve, and then select the point for suction and extraction. In addition, you must choose a place to monitor whether the muscles are relaxed during suction and extraction. Just like when I help my students to adjust the intestinal and sacral joints, I will put my hands on the back or head of the person being adjusted. When the intestinal sacral joints are aligned, a lot of muscles in the back that are passively released from the grooves will instantly relax. Solution, a large piece of fascia will slip (this is the real sound when the bones are adjusted. It is a very slight vibration, sliding, and no sound, rather than making the joints make a sound. Making the joints make a sound , it only means that the tendons slide hard through the joints, and it has nothing to do with whether the skeleton joints are returned to their original positions. The so-called return means that the muscles attached to them are loosened and flattened), because the fascia is interlocked and has no distance. No, so the fascia slippage when the intestines are repositioned will involve the back and scalp, so if I feel this slippage with my hands on the back or head, I know that a certain degree of repositioning has been achieved. , and based on the change in tension under my hands (i.e., the permeability of the fascia), I can know whether the repositioning is complete or not, and I can also know in which direction the repositioning is incomplete. Know. Therefore, when you choose a place to be suctioned and pulled out and operate it with your right hand, because it is difficult for your right hand to perform the needle operation, you can still have a very clear feeling under the needle, so you must use your left hand as the basis for the operation technique. Most people usually suck it up during cupping and leave it there until the scheduled time is up, and then look at the subcutaneous bleeding. The darker the cup, the more effective it is. Some even think that the darker the cup, the more toxins will be discharged. Of course this is wrong. The darker it is, the more ruptured subcutaneous capillaries are, but it also means that the underlying tension is relatively high. Some people will also pull the jar that is attached to the skin and then loosen it. This is correct, it can increase the degree of fascial release, but be careful of causing damage.
So what should the left hand sense? If the muscles contract abnormally, the fascia will twist abnormally. When you use your right hand to operate the jar adsorbing the skin, you can use some techniques to change the twisting of the fascia. If you can clearly feel the direction in which the fascia is being pulled with your left hand, in addition to lifting it, your right hand can also gently pull and twist the jar to loosen the fascia. Therefore, the basic techniques are a mixture of twisting the jar from left to right, pulling from front to back and from left to right, and pulling up and down. Place your left hand on the lesion or the far side of the jar (the suction site is usually not a painful site, just like acupuncture, the needle placement may not be the apparent lesion or painful site) to feel the changes in the fascia. When the jar absorbs the skin, First rotate left and right to see which direction the fascia is smoother, then move it up, down, left and right to make the fascia smoother, and finally lift the jar up and down gently, so that the new tension of the flat fascia can stretch outward, like a wave of water. Diffusion outwards so that the new tension balance reaches the entire system. As a result, the changing tension can be monitored with the left hand. You can know whether the force of pulling the can is enough, whether the conduction of the change in fascia along the extension is correct, which side is rounded and supple, and which side is still twisted and locked. In order to select the next suction point. After unlocking a point (a muscle or a joint), cupping can further change the muscle tension of a small system. For example, if the muscles of the lower arm are stiff and tight, preventing the ulna and calf bones from being fully stretched and flattened, you can use the rotation of the subcutaneous fascia (mainly to make a circular rotation around the ulna and calf bones) to see which direction it is. It allows fascia to be released. During the operation, suck the tighter points in the lower arm muscles, rotate them obliquely, and then lift the jar to loosen the entire lower arm flexor muscles. This method can be used in many places on the shoulders, neck, thighs, abdomen (internal and external abdominal muscles) and ankles. Cupping can also restore an entire large system, such as the alignment of the shoulder girdle and body wall. This return to position must follow the trend of the entire body axis. Align the shoulder straps and body wall along the body axis (bend your head or bend your head, sit upright and lean back, and slightly rotate your body to the left or right). After the can is pulled out of the fascia, do the canning again (rotate and lift). ), ask the patient to take a deep breath, and with the help of the ribs to loosen the fascia, the jar can lift the fascia of the entire system and restore it. This method can also be used to align the ribs and intestines, femur, intestines and Alignment of the sacral vertebrae. In addition, cupping can also be used to rotate the body axis. It is mainly used when the ribs on both sides of the upper chest are rotated due to uneven use of the shoulder straps on both sides, the height of the shoulders is not equal, and the muscles behind the neck under the tongue are tight. It depends on whether you want to lower your head and hold your chest and rotate left and right, or put your arms on your hips and raise your head and rotate your head left and right. When the muscle groups on the axis are in a loose state, suction the can on the trapezius, rhomboids or pectoralis major muscles, against the direction of axis rotation, while the patient takes a deep breath and inhale the can, repeat on both sides. After several times, the body axis can be restored very effectively. The same method can also be used to reposition the pelvis and adjust the tension in the abdominal and back areas (the tension in the hyperbola of the spine). Many of these operating techniques are not fixed and depend on the situation. It cannot be fully described in words. But the principle should be understandable. In addition to precise positioning, cupping also has a relaxing and nourishing function, which is difficult to compare with other therapies. There is a kind of person with stiff back and stiff feet due to dampness (that is, the subcutaneous muscles are tight and the subcutaneous is still full but not loose. Those who are loose under the skin are yin deficiency, and the effect of cupping is usually poor!). You can apply it on the back or calf. Sliding cup, the range of this kind of sliding pot should be large, do not use excessive force, and it is best not to cause Sha (when Sha occurs, the skin will be slightly injured, and repeated repeated times will cause harm), repeated many times, it will be effective over time, and dredge Relax and nourish. After dredging, the entire physique will change and the adjustment of the skeleton will be much easier. Finally, it is recommended that the aforementioned cupping method should only hold the skin for no more than five seconds each time. Do not pull out the same spot more than three times.
