The original poster, forward a good Xiamen guide post to you:
Xiamen Overview: Xiamen Also known as Ludao, it is a national civilized and sanitary city and the most livable city in the United Nations. The climate is mild in 4 seasons, with temperatures ranging from 2 to 36 degrees throughout the year. Xiamen Island is surrounded by the sea, with a mountain range in the central and southern parts of the island. The city center is mainly concentrated in the Yuandang Lake area between the two mountains, with a population of about 1 million. The urban area is not big and the traffic is smooth. It takes about 50 minutes to drive around the island.
A: Eat and drink
A1) High-end restaurants mainly include Shuyou, Belle, Harbor City, etc. Among them, Jiali's cucumber meat soup and sea and mountain bones are a perfect match, and the tofu pudding dessert after the meal is very smooth, tender and sweet. In other stores, they are popular all over the country, including Yan's abalone wings, etc., and the taste is not bad. Both Jiali and Harbor City have branches by the sea, and the food paired with the sea view is really a highlight.
A2) Mid-to-high-end restaurants mainly include Mudan, Yazhu, etc. Among them, Yazhu’s octopus and bamboo shoot jelly are the signature must-order dishes. The newly opened hotel in Mudan is of 5-star standard. In fact, the food inside is delicious and the price is very affordable. The "Blessed Family" in Bailuzhou has a very good geographical environment. You can enjoy the night view of Xiamen at night, and the price is reasonable. Many restaurants recommend Xiamen specialty Tulong soup, which is said to aphrodisiac, but now most of it is farmed, and the actual effect is average. It is recommended to order a similar seabass and eel soup to taste better. Fried crabs are generally available in large and small restaurants, which is a special practice in Xiamen and reflects the delicious taste of crabs. When ordering, ask the store owner if they want to use Xiamen's unique "Yan mother crab". This species looks similar to ordinary crabs, but after frying, the crab paste turns yellow, fragrant and refreshing, and is much more delicious than the common red crabs.
A3) For food stalls, we recommend Yaling Restaurant under Shangli Reservoir. Boiled squid can be added with meat soup, live shrimps, etc. The soup is refreshing and sweet, and it goes well with wine. There are also a wide variety of other seafood. . A short food stall opposite the No. 1 Kindergarten. The signature dishes are sea melon seeds (from May to October every year), fish maw fried with sour bamboo shoots, miscellaneous fish in soy sauce, cold cone snails, fried crabs, etc. The boss buys vegetables in person every day, so most of the ingredients are fresh and tender, and the prices are very affordable; Zeng Kee Basketball Court Food Stall in Tsang Cuo An is a place where people in the village often gather. The ingredients are rich and the prices are reasonable. The signature dish is fish porridge; Jiacun's fried tofu is a special pancake hotpot in Xiamen. Customers sit in the alley and put tofu, seafood and other things on the frying pan while they cook. They enjoy it even though they are smelling of oily smoke.
A4) In the countryside around Xiamen, for weddings and weddings or feudal festivals such as "Pudu", you usually buy seafood, spices and other raw materials yourself, and ask a specialized chef to hold a banquet in the yard of your home. Because the ingredients are authentic and the chefs don't cut corners, the dishes are authentic, fresh and hygienic. It’s fun to set up several tables for friends and family to eat and drink. The more guests there are, the more honorable the host feels. I sometimes take friends who are on vacation in Xiamen from other places to attend banquets together, and the guests and hosts enjoy themselves.
A5) Xiamen also brings together various cuisines from all over the country. The more famous ones are "Erwa Boiled Live Fish" Sichuan cuisine behind Benma New Village; "Xiangjiang Red" Hunan cuisine; and "Xin Hakka" Hakka cuisine Most of the famous restaurants in the country have branches in Xiamen. Japanese food, Thai food, Korean food, Brazilian barbecue, etc. are all available. Buddhism is very popular in Xiamen, and most homes have Buddhist niches and tea sets. It can be considered a characteristic culture of southern Fujian. Therefore, many temples have vegetarian restaurants open to the public, and various commercial districts also have specialized vegetarian restaurants.
A6) Snacks mainly include Shacha noodles, duck porridge, etc. The most authentic Shacha noodles are the "Sili Shacha Noodles" in the Lakeside Sili Vegetable Market and the "Park Shacha Noodles" in Baijia Village. , the "Wutang Shacha Noodles" on Minzu Road is very famous and tastes good, but the service attitude is very average and the price is a bit expensive; the "Fuyu Datong Duck Porridge" opposite Datong Primary School has the most authentic taste and is open 24 hours a day . There is a restaurant nearby called "Mingyue Prawn Noodles" whose shrimp soup has a mellow taste, not inferior to the "Prawn Noodles" by the lake on Pinang Road; the "Wu Zaitian Snack Bar" at the entrance of Meiren Mountain is authentic and cooked by Wu Zaitian himself, including taro buns Bianshi and other kinds of Xiamen’s authentic snacks. The “Jiawei Zaitian Snack Shop” in Ferry is actually just Wu Zaitian’s old location. Many people misunderstand that it is Wu Zaitian’s shop. In fact, the taste is very different; the old brand “Hao Qingxiang Restaurant” was originally Wu Zaitian’s shop. There are a lot of snacks, but I don’t know why the taste has changed a lot in recent years, so I don’t recommend them. The "Laosong Bianshi" opposite the Federal Plaza on Hexiang West Road has a smooth texture and is worth a try. The old store is near the eight cities and is not very popular. Good parking; the "Lianhuan Snack Bar" in the side alley of Jukou Street on Zhongshan Road is a must-have. The oysters are plump and round and fresh. The boss often cooks them himself. The heat is just right. The sweet potato powder is mixed with the oysters. It's delicious, plus eggs, ginger, garlic and other condiments, and you'll be drooling after eating it. The store also has pig's trotter soup spring rolls and other snacks that taste good, but the environment is average, but compared to the delicious food, it's just that; There are two "Sixi Shacha Barbecue" restaurants at the end of the street. The innermost one is the authentic one. The barbecue is served with lettuce and Coca-Cola in a glass bottle. It tastes first-class; the "Liyou Salted Duck" has now been distributed to various markets. It is delicious and A convenient dish to go with drinks; "Yaliang" opposite Jingmin Hotel has authentic duck noodles and five-spice noodles. The "Ginger Duck" on the Xilin Xili BRT resettlement street is made by roasting Muscovy duck in a casserole with a bed of old ginger. It is very delicious and the aroma can be smelled from a distance.
A7) "Laoliang BBQ" and "Three Kingdoms Grilled Fish" opposite the Xianyue Road Cultural Center are next to each other. You can drink beer with barbecue on the roadside. The grilled fish and oysters of the Three Kingdoms are good, and the grilled fish and oysters of the Three Kingdoms are good. The chicken wings and meat skewers are good. The "Qigong Grilled Wings" grilled fish and grilled wings on Datang Shijia Street in Huli are very delicious, and the ingredients and tableware are also very clean. The "Zheergen Grilled Fish" at Kaixuan Market on Hexiang East Road is added with herbs, so you won't get angry when eating grilled fish. The "Charcoal Grilled Oysters" diagonally across from Datong Elementary School is a signature dish, and the grilled mussels are also good. Barbecue restaurants are usually open until 3 am.
A8) The cafes in Xiamen have a good environment. Among them, the coffee street to the west of Marco Polo Hotel is the most typical, facing Yuandang Lake, with red flowers, green trees, blue sky and clear water. There are about 10 cafes on the street, most of which are renovated villas, with open-air street seats. The Western pastry is more delicious "Calum Bi", but the service is not very enthusiastic, and communication is basically relying on shouting. It is recommended to look for stores with call service bells and avoid making loud noises, otherwise you will easily attract a lot of looks. This street is where Xiamen’s fashionable men and women and luxury cars gather. You can often see Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other high-end cars. There are few parking spaces on this street, and the police frequently copy license plates; there is a coffee shop "Ms. Zhao's Shop" near the pier on Gulangyu Island with good music and a petty bourgeois decoration, suitable for daze; the "Waterfront Coffee" on the edge of the Second City is close to Zhongshan Park Surrounding the lake, the environment is elegant, the food is good, and there are regular concerts, movies and other activities; there are several coffee shops such as "Brown Sugar" in Nanhua Road, Xiamen University, very close to each other. The decoration is simple, the consumption is not high, and most of the customers are students. It’s a good choice if you want to relive your college life. You can see some small coffee shops in the prosperous areas of Xiamen. They are not large in size but have their own characteristics. It is common to encounter surprises around the corner.
A9) The density of tea shops in Xiamen should be ranked first in the country. You can often see 5-6 tea shops on the street less than 100 meters away. The tea shops in the streets and alleys are warm and hospitable. It will show the unique Kung Fu tea ceremony in southern Fujian and allow customers to taste several different flavors for free. Even if they don’t buy it after trying it, the store will smile and want to give it away (except for the tea stores designated by the tour group). Many tea store owners are in surrounding towns and villages. We grow and make tea ourselves, so the tea leaves are fresher and updated quickly. If tourists want to buy some to take home as gifts for relatives and friends, they can buy it for about 200 yuan per catty and drink it fresh and refreshing. Stores usually give away exquisite independent small packaging and gift boxes, as well as simple Kung Fu tea sets. There is also no shortage of sky-high-priced tea in Xiamen, which is a treasure hunt for tea connoisseurs. Most Xiamen people have tea sets in their homes and companies, and guests are accustomed to chatting while making tea. This is also a unique tea culture in Xiamen.
A10) The famous desserts are "Huang Zehe Peanut Soup" on Zhongshan Road; "Slimei" shaved ice at Federal Plaza on Hexiang West Road. The ice is very fine, with a light milk flavor, and the fruit inside The red bean and taro balls are all very fresh. Eating a bowl in summer is really a refreshing treat for the taste buds. The store is relatively small and there are so many people, so it is best to avoid peak hours.
B: Accommodation
B1) There are many special hotels in Xiamen, which are not expensive and have great charm. Recommended hotels in Gulangyu area: Nostalgia Inn, Huatang Inn, Yuanzhongyuan; Zengcuoan Recommended area: Xinmeng Traveler, Outdoor Bar. For specific content, please refer to another article on my blog "Exploring Various Specialty Hotels in Xiamen", enter the above article name on GOOGLE and you will see it.
B2) There are about 10 5-star hotels in Xiamen. Haiyue Villa is a state guesthouse opened in 2008. The price is about 1,500 yuan. Although you can’t see the sea directly from the room, it only takes 2 minutes to walk to the seaside. , and there are its own mountains behind it, with vast green spaces, and national leaders often come here. Yuehua Exhibition and Asia Gulf Hotel both face the sea and cost about 600 yuan. Asia Hotel also has its own beach and wooden boardwalk, about 8 kilometers away from the city center.
B3) There are many serviced apartments in high-rise buildings in prosperous areas. They are all small apartments converted from residential buildings. The price is about 150. The decoration is also good and the price-performance ratio is very high. Usually there are URLs and photos, you can search for them. It is said that the procedures are not very legal at present, but short-term residence should not be a problem. Very suitable for backpackers or weekend getaways.
B4) There are many 3-4 star hotels in Xiamen. The Jinyan Hotel, a subsidiary of Xiamen Airlines, is located in the city center opposite Yuandang Lake, and you can get your boarding pass directly in the lobby. Chain hotels such as Home Inn Hanting have several branches in Xiadu, but the price/performance ratio is average. During major festivals such as the National Day and Spring Festival and the China Investment Fair on September 8 every year, hotels in Xiamen are often full, so it is best for tourists to avoid these peak dates.
C: Entertainment
C1) The main nightclubs are Jinzun, Beauty and Noah’s Ark. Each nightclub has about 500 beauties or models that you can choose to drink with. The minimum consumption in performance halls and private rooms is generally over 800, and most people drink foreign wine. According to statistics from Martell Company in recent years, Xiamen is the city with the highest consumption of Cordon Bleu foreign wine in the world. The first bottle in the nightclub is real wine, but the next few bottles should be careful to prevent fake wine. It is best to buy before getting drunk. The little girl tips 300 for the mommy, 300 for the beautiful model, or flowers of the same price. If you have more money, you can give a flower basket of 1,000 or a crown of 10,000. I heard that some people also give you a house or a car. There are quite a few wealthy people in Xiamen, so it’s not surprising to see people spending money in nightclubs. However, there are also many low-key wealthy people, and some people who appear to be ordinary people are actually wealthy. Noah's side dishes have many varieties and are delicious, and he is the same owner as Shuyou Restaurant.
Generally speaking, the nightclub consumption in Xiamen is still slightly higher than that in other cities, but the choice of beautiful women is wider.
C2) The most popular nightclubs at present are 1801 and Duchamp Bar, with many handsome guys and beauties: KK Disco in Bay Park also has a lot of people, but the overall eye-catching quality of the customers is average, and Lexi and HONEY It's not bad. There are two bars near the sea in the north of the park. They are open-air. If you drink too much, you can pour it directly into the sea, but the music is loud. The small bar street behind Marco Polo has a very good atmosphere and there are many foreigners. Bailuzhou Photography Plaza has several bars such as 1970. It has an elegant environment and unique decoration. It is also a good place to go. From Monday to Friday, large bars usually spend money to hire beautiful women to act as guests. In fact, it is the same across the country. The so-called bar encounters are all gimmicks of businessmen, and the actual success rate is extremely low. Bartenders are rare in the larger nightclubs in Xiamen, and drug abuse is basically non-existent.
C3) For regular massage saunas, the high-end ones are Lijing, Jinling Hyatt and 1969 (Filipino women, strong), which cost about 200 per person; the mid-range ones are Zhenyuantang, which is an old house and has a large bucket of water. They are all about 50 yuan per hour. It is an old house, and there are big buckets of water available 24 hours a day with set meals, snacks, fruits, etc. Zhenyuantang's full-body massage has more professional technicians, but the active oil and hot compress sold there are average. The sauna shops with fancy signs often seen on the streets of Xiamen usually promote "heterosexual massage" but are actually pornography in disguise. This is similar to other cities across the country.
C4) Self-service KTVs such as Huanshang (6-7 branches), Kangkang Liuding, Gecheng, Crystal Love, Soupeng, etc. have fierce competition, so the decoration is relatively high-end and the consumption is very cheap. , some also offer a lump sum of 60 yuan. Not only do they provide affordable supermarkets, but some even have full meals. The waiters are well trained and don't accept tips.
C5) Cake gambling is a unique way of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival in Xiamen. It is said to have originated from Zheng Chenggong. Within a month before and after the Mid-Autumn Festival every year, the streets and alleys are filled with the sound of slinging and the sound of adults and children. Laughter, major shopping malls and restaurants also have promotional activities to suit the occasion. Customers can shake the spinner once just by spending money in the store. The prizes are as many as the lottery, ranging from drinks to cars. Many companies regard pie betting as a benefit for employees, and many relatives and friends spontaneously raise funds to play pie. The prizes are not only mooncakes, but also money and materials. No matter the position is high or low, it all depends on luck, and it is fair and transparent, so everyone is happy. For specific rules, please refer to my blog post: "Xiamen Mid-Autumn Festival Cake Betting Rules". In Xiamen, the Mid-Autumn Festival is more lively than the Spring Festival. If you happen to be traveling to Xiamen at that time, you should experience it for yourself. This is a national gambling entertainment with Chinese characteristics, and it is also a manifestation of a harmonious society.
C6) Hot springs are a popular entertainment for Xiamen people. Riyuegu Hot Spring is 15 kilometers away from the city. According to the 5-star standard, it is very large. Not only can you swim, play water polo, and soak in more than 50 kinds of hot springs, Enjoy various SPAs, rock climbing, sand sculptures and stone slab massages, etc. You can also enjoy open-air dining, playing cards or having a drink. It is best to go after 16 o'clock to avoid the noise of the tour groups. You can play until 23 o'clock and the ticket is about 150. Shanhailian Hot Spring is on Huandao Road, 1 km away from Asia Hotel and 8 km away from the city. There are few tourists. The cabin has an open-air independent hot spring, which is suitable for couples. Garden Expo Hot Spring is 15 kilometers away from the city. It is small and well decorated. Kingfisher Hot Spring is 50 kilometers away from the city. It is in a mountainous area with fresh air. The spacing between hot spring pools in the public area is small, but the guest rooms are elegant and suitable for stargazing.
C7) Dog-raising is relatively common in Xiamen, but Xiamen law stipulates that large dogs cannot be taken out even if they are certified. Although it is unreasonable, the regulations are generally not very strict. The more suitable places for dog walking are the beach boardwalk on Huandao Road, Wuyuan Bay and Coffee Street. Dog walking is a kind of happiness for dogs, and it is a kind of exercise and entertainment for people. Families with children can also cultivate their children's love. I have taken my fat dog to bars, nightclubs, restaurants, cafes, etc. As long as it does not disturb others and pays attention to hygiene, it is completely possible for both humans and dogs to have fun together. In the nightclub, many beautiful women took the initiative to surround my fat dog and ask questions and touch it. I feel that this is not entertainment that money can simply buy.
C8) The main shopping malls include World Trade Plaza next to the train station, Mingfa Plaza in Toyama Business District, and SM Plaza in Jiangtou. The style of Zhongshan Road in Xiamen is somewhat similar to Nanjing Road in Shanghai, but the scale is much smaller. Because parking is not very convenient, there are few locals shopping here, but the nearby branches such as Datong Road and Jukou Street are popular places for locals. Hexiang West Road is dotted with various boutique clothing stores, making it an ideal choice for the petty bourgeoisie. Maybe it’s because I don’t like shopping. I think the shops in Xiamen are similar to other places in the country, and the prices are not particularly favorable. Of course, if you have physical strength and like to shop around, you can still find high-quality and cheap things.
D: Sports
D1) There are three golf courses. It is easy to rent a golf license from a golf equipment store. The total cost for 18 holes is about 400 yuan. The Oriental Course is 15 kilometers away from the city. The fairways and clubhouse are good. It is very popular so it is not easy to book. It has 27 holes, 2 seaside fairways and 1 mountain fairway. Tips are not required for golfers. The Veuve Clicquot Course is 30 kilometers away from the city. , the 18 holes will be expanded to 36 holes by the end of 2009, the fairways are acceptable, there is a lot of noise and dust from the surrounding factories, tip is 50; the Nantaiwu Golf Course is in Zhangzhou City, but there is a speedboat pick-up at Tongyi Pier in Xiamen City, and the boat ride takes 30 minutes You can take a look at the sea view, the clubhouse and fairways are the same, the coastline is about 3 kilometers, the tip is 100.
There are two other 9-hole courses that have been built in the city center, respectively in the Botanical Garden and Li Reservoir on Wenzeng Road. However, due to formalities, they are not open to the public. If you have internal acquaintances, you can try them out. There are two golf driving ranges in Xiamen city, the Dongfang Sports Center and the Mingyi Garden opposite the Asia Gulf Hotel on Huandao Road. Many bank VIP cards can practice golf for free.
D2) The most suitable place for swimming is the seaside about 10 kilometers from Xiamen University to the Convention and Exhibition Area. The sea water is clean and the air is fresh. The artificial beach in Guanyin Mountain is the largest in Asia, but its texture is relatively hard. You must pay attention to safety when swimming in the open air. The sea water has tidal fluctuations. When the tide is low, you can easily be sucked into the deep sea if you swim far away, so try to swim within 30 meters of the shore and within the range where your feet can touch the ground. Atlanta Aquarium and Palm Springs both have swimming pools and spas, but the swimming lanes are small and a bit crowded with people. Some public swimming pools are often crowded and are not recommended. Each major hotel has its own swimming pool, and the Sheraton and Peony Hotel have good swimming pools.
D3) Hiking and walking are also very suitable. For hiking, you can go to the Botanical Garden, Dongping Mountain or Huwei Mountain. They are all within 5 kilometers of the city. The whole climbing process takes about 3 hours. You can have a panoramic view of the lakes and mountains, the beautiful cityscape and A line between sea and sky. The wooden boardwalk on Huandao Road runs from Xiamen University Baicheng to Asia Hotel for about 6 kilometers. It passes numerous rocks along the way. You can often see the waves crashing on the shore. Breathe the fresh sea air and walk on the waves. The sea and sky are vast. It is really a great experience in life. enjoy. There is a colorful sightseeing trail of about 5 kilometers from Asia Hotel to the Convention and Exhibition Center. At the beginning of every year, Xiamen holds an international marathon, which is known as the most beautiful track in China. The wooden plank road and wetland park in Wuyuan Bay are relatively quiet and less visited, about 10 kilometers away from the city center. After dinner, you can take a walk along Yuandang Lake to enjoy the colorful night views of various buildings. Many friends from other places say that the night view of Xiamen looks like a large nightclub.
D4) There are two fishing centers in Xiti Villa and Wuyuan Bay, priced at 50 yuan per day. Free fishing is available along Yuandang Lake, and many people rent boats to fish offshore. Freshwater fishing is done at the Xiamen University Reservoir and Dongpingshan Reservoir on the island, both close to the city center. Outside the island, there are some offshore cage farming in Xiang'an District. In the evening, friends would fish beside the fish steaks with luminous lights and beer. If there was any harvest, they would cook it immediately. If there was no harvest, they would fish it out of the cage. It was a great time.
D5) Basketball, volleyball, tennis and other various ball games can be found in Xiamen. Special venues are mainly concentrated in the sports center and cultural center. Table tennis and badminton in Xiamen are relatively popular, with many venues and many exhibitions. World champions such as Guo Yuehua and Lin Ying. There are also billiard halls everywhere and 2 bowling alleys.
E: Transportation
E1) The airport is in the north of the island, 20 kilometers away from the city center, and a taxi costs about 30 yuan. Xiamen Airport has a high density of flights. There are more than 10 flights to Shanghai every day, which are similar to buses. It is very convenient to travel to various cities in the country. There are also international flights to Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Air ticket websites such as "Qunar" have monthly air ticket curve charts. Pick a day with the lowest price, and you can usually arrange a short-term trip to Xiamen during weekends and other free time. I have taken a train to Shanghai 199 Chongqing 190 Wuhan 260 Shenzhen 200 and always choose the lowest day on the curve to book the itinerary. This not only saves money but also gives me a sense of accomplishment.
E2) The railway is not very developed and the train environment is average. It is not recommended to take the train to Xiamen. It is said that the official said that the new passenger station will be completed by the end of 2009 and the new railway line will be opened to traffic. It will only take 90 minutes to get to Fuzhou and 3 hours to Shenzhen by train. It will be clean and comfortable. Xiamen citizens are looking forward to it.
E3) The roads are very complete and there are 3 expressways. I drove to Shanghai in 13 hours, to Wuhan in 11 hours, to Shenzhen in 6 hours, and to Guangzhou in 8 hours. They were all expressways. Xiamen is very suitable for South China. Or self-driving tour in East China. After a major construction project in 2008, it is very fast to enter and exit the island. There are 4 bridges and a tunnel that is about to be completed. The road network on the island is also relatively complete, with slight traffic jams during peak hours, which is much better than in Beijing and Shanghai.
E4) Most of the buses are clean and convenient. Xiamen has the first BRT bus system in China, which is somewhat similar to the elevated light rail. The government promises that there will only be one transfer between any two stations on the island. The buses will not be very crowded, and the elderly, weak, sick and disabled will take the initiative to give up their seats. It is worthy of the title of a national civilized city. Taxis cost 8 yuan for the first 3 kilometers, and a taxi around the island only costs about 80 yuan.
E5) For out-of-town tourists, if the distance is not far and you are not in a hurry, it is recommended to walk. Xiamen is a hygienic city. Most of the streets are clean and orderly, and Xiamen people are generally warm and friendly. Walking through the streets and alleys, you can not only experience the harmonious folk customs, but also visit various shops and exercise. , it really kills three birds with one stone. If you’re halfway through and don’t have enough energy, you can always take a taxi. It’s not difficult to find a taxi in Xiamen.
F: Security
F1) Public security is generally good. Robbery is basically non-existent in urban areas, but it is difficult to say in the urban-rural fringe area. There are some pickpockets at bus spots and other places, but they are not arrogant. There are many fraud methods such as hotel recruitment public relations, phone bill refunds, and ingots lost. It is said that SMS fraud all over the country comes from a county not far from Xiamen. In fact, as long as you habitually hesitate and verify from another angle before spending money, you can basically prevent being cheated. The police in Xiamen generally enforce the law in a civilized manner. The 110 dispatch police are dispatched quickly, and electronic eyes are spread throughout the city, which greatly deters criminals. When tourists encounter difficulties, it is absolutely right to call the police as soon as possible. The police will even help with trivial matters such as unlocking the door.
F2) The phenomenon of customer rip-off is rare in Xiamen, and general complaints can be resolved by calling 12315. There are many restaurants on the scenic roads on Gulangyu Island with very cheap prices, but the unit of measurement is "liang" instead of the commonly used jin. Many restaurants or shops are playing tricks on tourists who have no time to reason with them. The inaction and ambiguity of "relevant departments" have seriously tarnished the reputation of Gulangyu Island. The public is extremely angry, but there is still no improvement. At present, we can only advise everyone not to order or consume food in scenic spots, and be sure to confirm the prices, and actively complain if there are disputes. The so-called tourist souvenirs are not necessarily bought in scenic spots. They are generally available in major shopping malls and supermarkets. Xiamen’s specialties are tea and pies. In fact, they can also be bought in other cities in China.
F3) The folk customs are relatively easy-going and hospitable, and fights are rare. Most Xiamen people yearn to open their own small shop and make tea while doing business, and do not want to expand too much or work too hard. Although it is difficult to be rich and powerful, you can still enjoy yourself. It can be called petty bourgeoisie plus harmony. Of course, you may encounter some disharmonious phenomena in Xiamen, because Xiamen is a tolerant city, and its citizens come from all over the world. It is inevitable that the good and the bad sometimes vary, but overall it is relatively civilized.
F4) Most people in the north have never seen the power of a typhoon. Before coming to Xiamen, you should pay attention to the weather forecast. A typhoon usually lasts for about five days, with flight delays, violent storms, traffic disruptions, road flooding, and even water outages. There is a possibility of electricity. When on the street, be careful of billboards or tree branches from flowerpots, air conditioners, etc. falling down and injuring people. Typhoons are forecast many times every year to hit Xiamen, but the results are often near misses. Citizens believe that the stone statue of Zheng Chenggong on Gulangyu Island is protecting Xiamen from the spirit of heaven.
G: Attractions
G1) Gulangyu Island is only 5 minutes away from Xiamen Island by ferry. Sunlight Rock is the symbol of Xiamen. There are so many tourists and the scenery is not bad. In fact, the most charming thing about Gulangyu Island is probably the old villas along Zhangzhou Road. Because Gulangyu Island used to be a concession, there are consulates with architectural styles from all over the world, and they are all classical structures from the 1930s. They are very nostalgic and worth spending a few days. Go and savor it. Some old villas have also been converted into family hotels, giving you a unique flavor when staying there. The Xiamen Museum itself is a classic building, also called the Bagua Tower. Organs are often on display inside, which has a strong artistic and cultural atmosphere. The scenery is good, there are not many tourists, and it is relatively clean.
G2) Although the botanical garden does not have many exotic flowers and plants, the overall vegetation is well maintained. Especially the Baihua Hall inside is not as beautiful as the Suzhou gardens, but it still has winding paths even in the summer. Also refreshing and pleasant. There are many gardens with different themes in the botanical garden, which are suitable for resting and admiring while climbing, and are also suitable for hanging out with flowers.
G3) The Garden Expo is located on the outer coast of the island, about 15 kilometers away from the city center. It brings together horticultural and architectural masterpieces from all over the country and even the world. There is also a large waterfront musical fountain show in the evening. It takes at least 2 days to completely explore it, and it is worth savoring. If you really don’t have time, just take a battery car and see the sights. Half a day is enough.
G4) Nanputuo Temple is very popular, and during the Guanyin Christmas period three times a year, it is crowded with people starting from the evening. The buildings in the temple have a long history and the statues of gods are solemn and solemn. The vegetarian dishes taste good, and the vegetarian pies use green ingredients. They are suitable for drinking with tea or as gifts for relatives and friends. Next to the temple is Xiamen University, which is known as the most beautiful university campus in China. It is surrounded by mountains and sea, and there are two beautiful lakes, which is very suitable for serious study or romance.
G5) Jimei Ao Garden is the mausoleum of Mr. Tan Kah Kee. From the site selection, layout to stone carvings and other details, everything reflects the admiration of the general public for him. It is also said to be a treasure of southern Fujian architectural art. . Tan Kah Kee is the banner of patriotic overseas Chinese in modern times and has always been an idol respected by thousands of people in Xiamen. The nearby Jimei School and the Xiamen University on the island were both donated and built by him, but his personal life was very simple, which is very suitable for businessmen to commemorate and study. Tourists often complain about the uncivilized behavior of the vendors and merchants at the entrance. It is recommended not to shop or dine here.
G6) There are many small attractions in Xiamen, such as Huli Mountain Fort, Bailuzhou Park, Haicang Wildlife Park, Ocean Park, etc. From my point of view, they are not considered to be done in Chinese cities. The best, but if you have enough time, you might as well visit it.
H: Suggested itinerary
The following is based on 2 days and 2 nights as one itinerary unit. If you have enough time, you can do it all again or combine it freely. It is strongly recommended not to rush for time like common tour groups in Xiamen, and not every attraction must be seen. You should focus on leisure and relaxation, sleep until you wake up naturally, and then decide where to go. If you are tired on the way, relax nearby, or change the route temporarily.
H1) Fresh route: After arriving in Xiamen at 16:00, go to the Ah Aiao Food Stall for dinner, take a 20-minute walk to Bailuzhou to see the night view, go to the Coffee Street for coffee, and return to Gulangyu Island around 22:00 Sleep in hotel. After waking up naturally in the morning, go to Wu Zaitian Snack Bar for breakfast, then climb the mountain from the Botanical Garden to Nan Putuo, eat vegetarian food at noon, and then go for a walk on the Xiamen University campus. Around 15:00, go to Zhenyuan Hall for a massage for 1-2 hours. In the evening, go to Bay Park Jiali to eat Haishan. Bone and meat soup, then go back to Gulangyu Island for a walk and rest. After getting up in the morning, visit Sunlight Rock, ancient buildings, museums or hang out on Gulangyu Island, and fly back in the afternoon.
H2) Couple route: Arrive at Xiahou at 11:00 and check in at Zengcuo'an area on Huandao Road. Have lunch at Zengji Food Stall or Jiali. After the meal, walk 3 kilometers along the seaside boardwalk to Shanhailian cabin for hot spring bathing. , and then watch the sunset by the beach. For dinner, we went to Yazhu to eat octopus, bamboo shoots and other jelly.
After dinner, I went shopping on Hexiang West Road to eat "Slime Shaved Ice". Get up early to watch the sunrise at the beach, eat Silisha tea noodles, visit Nanputuo and visit the Xiamen University campus. After lunch break, go to the Garden Expo Park to watch the fountain show in the park at 7pm, then return to Xiamen and go to 1801 Bar. After the bar, go to eat Three Kingdoms grilled fish. Wake up naturally and go to the airport.
H3) Golf route: Arrive in Xiamen at 18:00 and check into Fuyou Days Hotel. Take a walk directly to the Bay Park opposite for dinner at Belle. After dinner, walk to Fuqiao Foot Bath in Overseas Chinese Seaview City. 22:00 Return to the Jinzun Nightclub in the park, and after drinking, take the beautiful woman to have a late-night snack. After getting up at 11 o'clock in the morning, I took a speedboat directly downstairs from the hotel to play the 18th hole in Nantai Martial Arts. Back to Xiamen around 17:00, we went to Baijia Village to fry dried tofu, and then to the small bar street behind the Marco Polo Hotel. Go to Haicang Dongfang to play 18 holes at 8 a.m., drink Tulong Soup in Haicang at noon, go to Riyue Valley to soak in hot springs in the afternoon, and go to the airport in the evening.
H4) Pet Route: It is best to bring your dog to Xiamen by car. It is best to avoid high temperatures by air transport. Xiamen Airlines has aerobic cabins and the service is better. Implement pet-friendly hotels. The Zengcuo'an area is the best and the beach is close. Dogs are generally allowed to dine in open-air restaurants or cafes. If you find an acquaintance, you can take your dog to a nightclub or bar. It is best to call to confirm first. Dogs are not allowed on the big ferry, but you can take the speedboat from the ferry side to Gulangyu Island and take photos of the sea scenery. The price is 50 yuan per boat and the latest is 18:00. There are no cars on Gulangyu Island, so dogs are allowed to roam freely. You can take a small wooden boat back to Xiamen Island at night. Huandao Road and Dongping Mountain are suitable for walking dogs. Many farmers on the roadside specialize in picking strawberries. Dogs are welcome but must be supervised to prevent them from stepping on strawberries. Do not take your dog to areas with dense pedestrians such as Zhongshan Road in shopping malls. Be careful not to let the dog disturb others and clean up the dog's excrement in a timely manner. Carry your dog license with you. Generally, the city management will not embarrass you if you see someone with a dog license from other places.
All in all, Xiamen is an inclusive and elegant city. Self-cultivation, romance, sports and leisure, flirting with women, eating and drinking, and living in a luxurious life can all develop harmoniously here.
