Where is the introduction of meteorological knowledge mentioned in the movie The Day After Tomorrow?

Although the story of the science fiction film The Day After Tomorrow is very touching, its meteorological knowledge is really subjective and divorced from reality. Because the cold wave is the weather system that causes the worst cold, not the cyclone in the movie. The cyclone in the movie is similar to a tropical cyclone (typhoon), and it is a warm-hearted symmetric barotropic system.
