Causes of cold weather under the background of global warming

According to the analysis of meteorologists, there is a huge temperature difference between the equator and the polar regions, which leads to the formation of a strong westerly wind on the periphery of the polar circle, which is called westerly jet. westerly jet restrains the polar cold air like a fence, and the stable polar vortex is confined to the Arctic region by the powerful westerly jet. However, in the context of global warming, the warming rate of the Arctic is two to three times that of the whole world.

As the temperature difference between the Arctic and the middle and low latitudes weakens, it is difficult to maintain a strong westerly jet, and the cold air in the polar vortex becomes "restless", which makes it easier to split south. The temperature of cold air from the Arctic is much lower than that in the middle and low latitudes where we live. The repeated cold wave weather makes the public feel "quick frozen".

According to the climate forecast bulletin issued by the National Climate Center, it is estimated that the temperature in June 2024 will be 0.5℃ lower than normal in 5438+0, except in northeastern Inner Mongolia, most of Heilongjiang, southwestern Sichuan, western Yunnan, Tibet and southwestern Qinghai, and it will be 1℃ higher than normal.
