652 kilometers of real life! The 2022 Tesla Model S set a new record for electric vehicle endurance.

Recently, the US Environmental Protection Agency announced the endurance test results of the new Model S in 2022. The new car once again set a new record for this model with an EPA test score of 405 miles (about 652 kilometers), becoming the world's first mass-produced electric vehicle that can travel more than 650 kilometers after a single charge.

Previously, the EPA endurance test score of the 2020 Tesla Model S was 402 miles (about 647 kilometers). Now the battery capacity (100kWh) has not increased, and the endurance of the Model S has improved again.

The EPA endurance test of the US Environmental Protection Agency is the most stringent endurance test method for electric vehicles in the world. Because the test method is more accurate and the test result is closer to the actual working condition, the error between the test result and the actual endurance is usually less than 10%. There has even been a case that "Porsche Taycan 4S EPA battery life only gives 327 kilometers of test results, but it can actually run more than 400 kilometers".

Except for traffic, weather and other variables, EPA will adjust almost all controllable factors in endurance test, including setting the tire pressure at the corresponding correct value, checking the accuracy of speedometer with GPS instrument, and even being accurate enough to drive into high speed after the test.

Subsequently, Tesla updated the ordering pages of Model S long battery life in China and the United States. Musk once pointed out that when Slaid was released, the cruising range of the dual-motor configuration of the vehicle was 465,438+02 miles, but the company has changed the cruising range information on the page to 405 miles (official website, USA) and 652 kilometers (official website, China, EPA).

At present, the top three models of NEDC in China are Extreme Focus Alpha S (708km), Tucki P7 (706km) and Weilai ET7 (700km, undelivered).

Based on the difference of about 20% between NEDC and EPA, the battery life of the new Model S is expected to exceed 800 kilometers under NEDC conditions. In the future, after the new Model S is delivered in China, the endurance level will also rise to the first place.
