Is subtropical high the trigger of this year's flood disaster?

There are many floods in southern China this year, and the floods are fierce.

The Yangtze River, Huaihe River, Taihu Lake and other floods occur frequently. Why is there so much rain this year? What caused this situation? Some meteorologists think that this year's subtropical high is too strong.

It was not until the 1960s that people began to build satellites that they began to do research in this field. Before the emergence of high-altitude reconnaissance technology, little was known about this weather.

Because the equator is very hot, the air is heated, and the atmosphere flowing out of the equator moves to the poles. The rotation of the earth makes the subtropical (30 degrees north latitude) atmospheric movement direction change from west to east, parallel to the earth.

This will hinder the subsequent air, causing other air above to gather and be forced to sink, resulting in subtropical high. It is the key to transport and balance water vapor, heat and energy in middle and high latitudes and low latitudes.

The subtropical high affecting China is called the western Pacific subtropical high, which is very close to China. In summer, when the sun shines directly in the northern hemisphere, the subtropical high will affect the climate in Chinese mainland.

The subtropical high itself has a high temperature, comes from the ocean and is rich in water vapor. When it enters Chinese mainland, it meets the cold air from the north, and the wet air combines with the cold air from the northwest to form continuous rainfall, which will form a wide rainfall zone, that is, frontal rainfall or cold peak rainfall.

Under the joint pressure of Siberian blocking high and northern cold vortex, the subtropical high can't go northward smoothly, but only stays in the swing development in the south. There has been no rainy season in the south, and it has been raining on a large scale, which has led to floods.

The subtropical high is indeed one of the reasons that affected the floods in Chinese mainland this year. It is hoped that the vent of subtropical high will end as soon as possible, and at the same time, preparations will be made for flood control and waterlogging resistance.
