Jiaxing Travel Notes-Yuehe Ancient Town

Make up your travel experience and make up for the lack in your heart. It was the afternoon of April 6, 20 18. My family of five took a harmonious ride from Shanghai Railway Station to Jiaxing to visit his wife, brother and sister who are engaged in aquaculture in Wang. They left their hometown and went out to raise fish and shrimp for nearly 30 years. It is hard to get up early and get rich.

? I haven't been to Jiaxing for several years, nor have I visited my wife, sister and brother-in-law. My wife often nags me and misses me very much. Our trip is two-way. One is to visit them in the past and see for yourself the current family business and living conditions. The other is to visit the famous scenic spots in Jiaxing.

? A moment together is worth a thousand dollars. Drinking tea at sister-in-law's house during the day, eating melon seeds and chatting at home.

? When the sun was about to set, all three families set out, took a battery car together, went to Shuangqiao Town not far away, and had a reunion dinner at a private restaurant on the roadside. My wife, brothers and sisters are very polite. A dozen adults and children had dinner, but they all ordered a large table full of small dishes, more than 30 pots of vegetables, all of which were local characteristics, and there were many pots. We must have spent a lot of money this time. The main dishes are braised pig's feet, steamed eel, fried steak, braised eel, steamed mandarin fish, braised turtle slices, chicken soup, Jiaxing slow-fire sauce duck, boiled chicken and so on. Most of them are meat dishes. Jiaxing food is similar to our Huzhou food, and it tastes good, but it is a little spicy. Everyone sat around, having fun, drinking and chatting, having a good time and talking endlessly.

? All good things must come to an end. After dinner, we shook hands and said goodbye. My wife and brother drove us to Jiaxing for the night. That night, our family stayed in a hotel in the southeast of Yuehe Bridge.

? After dark, the family went to the nearby big commercial street to have a look. Jiaxing block has luxurious buildings, spacious and clean streets, bustling shopping malls, many people visiting the night market, crowded restaurants and an amazing number of diners. My brother-in-law told me that Jiaxing people are very particular about food and clothing, especially like to eat casserole in the street, and often stroll around the shopping mall with their relatives at night, leading a colorful life and enjoying shopping. There are many boys and girls here, and their clothes are comparable to those of Huzhou people. Women love to dress up, clothes are beautiful and bright, and men are decent and handsome. Let me see. People on the streets of Shanghai are dressed better and more fashionable than usual.

On the morning of April 7, the temperature in Jiaxing plummeted. I didn't bring more clothes and wear less when I went out that time, and I felt that the weather was particularly cold. It is estimated that the wind in South Lake is definitely strong, so I dare not go to Jiaxing South Lake to play, so I backed out.

? After coming out of the hotel, I went to a small restaurant nearby and had a famous breakfast in Jiaxing. Then the family can only helplessly go to the old community of Yuehe not far away. Passing a long covered bridge, I saw two big red words "Yue He" engraved on a big stone beside the bridge, and turned down dozens of steps to enter the scenic spot. The house at the entrance of this ancient street is very beautiful, with cornices upturned. There are no sightseeing tickets here.

? Yuehe Old Street is similar to the ancient house in Zhujiaba, our hometown, with small bridges and flowing water, pillow water for people to live in, porch chairs, slates, wooden boats, riverside trees, bonsai ornaments, stone banks and water towns with particularly rich and quaint scenery. It can really be compared with Wuzhen and Nanxun.

It is said that Yuehe Ancient Town was transformed from its former residence, with a total area of about 90,000 square meters. It was built with a government investment of more than 400 million yuan. It is an ancient town with human history, cultural leisure and livable tourism. There are two north-south roads on the east and west sides, and the traffic is very convenient. The scenic spot is adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal (Ring River) in the south, and there are Liyue River and Waiyue River in the territory, which divides the blocks into orderly and uniform. On both sides of the old Qingshi Road in the street, there are various shops, carved beams and painted buildings, different plaques and antique. One is connected with that one, and this shop is next to that one. Some sell snacks, some sell local specialties, some sell handicrafts, and some take art photos. Shops have their own characteristics, and every family is beautifully decorated.

? Looking around, looking at the alleys on the street, each one gives you a different visual enjoyment, which is very childhood-like, as if returning to the childhood scene. I have familiar memories of scattered houses, alleys, stone bridges, gatehouses, horse-headed walls, wells, stone mortars, wooden boats, and the reflections of houses and trees in the water. Fen Street is rippling and charming. It's a bit like the oil tanker pool in Linghu Lake, just like entering the clothing street in Huzhou, as if in Nanxun, Wuzhen, Tongli, Xitang, Luzhi, Mudu and Xincheng. Small bridges with flowing water, living by water, white walls and tiles, blue brick and wood structures, rowing boats, swaying willows and beautiful chairs. Everything in front of you will make you seem to go back to the past at once. Is this the precipitation of years or am I sleepwalking?

The traditional houses in the south of the Yangtze River are built by water, and the ancient streets and deep lanes are winding and criss-crossing, full of historical rings and vicissitudes. Wooden buildings, flower windows, Shigang River, ancient stone bridges, narrow alleys, ancient houses, corridors, sheds, etc. All of them show a strong style of ancient water towns, reflecting the prosperity of Jiaxing as a "southern city" in the past.

The Moon River here is a small tributary of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The Moon River Ancient Street was built by the river. According to the records of Jiaxing in Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, it was named because the river was around the city and bent like a bright moon. Yuehe Ancient Town is the most complete and largest architectural complex in Jiaxing at present, which can best reflect the characteristics of China Jiangnan Water Town.

? The middle street in Yuehe Ancient Town is the most prosperous. There are many shops and merchants on both sides of the street, which are the most popular and have many tourists. The crowd is crowded and noisy. There are Jiahe Shui Yi, Dragon Boat Festival Folk Culture Experience Museum, Jiaxing Zongzi Culture Museum, Ceramic Culture Experience Museum, Laoxianghe Silver House, Flower and Bird Workshop, Goldfish Pond, etc.

? Next to a huge stone square in the scene, there are many tourists crowded together. There are piles here and there, and everyone is watching. I looked curiously and carefully, and there were seven or eight craftsmen scrambling to make things under their sheds. Some are buying maltose, some are rubbing the Monkey King Pig, Pig and Tang Priest, and some sugar blowers are stealing mouse oil. Others make marshmallows, weave small animals by hand with long calamus leaves, and so on. Traditional skills have attracted many large and small tourists to watch. We stayed there for a long time, too, and our grandson never watched it, so he watched it with him. My daughter bought a panlong dripping with syrup from a sugar blower and an empty galloping horse made of a wisp of sugar. The grandson is too excited to eat what he has. These old crafts were often seen when I was a child, and I went to the streets on holidays. I haven't seen you for years now. It is very rare to see so much here at once.

Strolling through the ancient town, I also saw the shadow play hall, tea house restaurant, pingtan bookstore, flower and bird market, antique market, Li He style, Xiushui Dou fountain and so on. There are many things to see, and tourists are weaving. In the winding alley of the scenic spot, in the amorous feelings, unconsciously, the family wandered around the old street and watched it for a long time.

At about 11 noon, the family reluctantly left Yuehe Street Scenic Area and went to Huating Street on the Henan side to enjoy Jiaxing's delicious food-Tongxiang Pot, or the daughter-in-law paid the bill, which cost more than 200 yuan.

Tongxiang clay pot is an intangible cultural heritage in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, and a traditional famous food in Tongxiang City. It is favored by people for its unique taste of hemp, spicy, fresh and fragrant. The main ingredients in the pot are prawns, chicken feet, crabs, Chinese cabbage, wax gourd, potatoes and dried white rice. Tongxiang pot is delicious, salty and appropriate, with balanced nutrition, which is deeply loved by people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and is also the favorite of Jiaxing people. The cooking method of Tongxiang Bao is not the same as that of Chongqing hot pot. Hot pot is cooked and eaten, while Tongxiang Bao is prepared by the chef. After cooking with fire, you can eat it with chopsticks.

? There is a big pot full of Tongxiang clay pot, and we have two bowls of hot dishes there. The food is even more surprising and delicious. This is the first time my wife and I met and tasted this food for the first time. Before ordering, we asked the shopkeeper not to put spicy food. The taste is still very suitable, and the family has a good time. Such a pot of Tongxiang pot, five people put down their stomachs or can't finish it. There is still a lot left in the soup basin in front of the dining table, which is really a bit wasteful and a bit guilty. I didn't perform CD action when I went out to eat this time.

? This kind of delicious food, this kind of delicious food, only when you have tasted it yourself, will you know that it lives up to its reputation and understand why Jiaxing people love it so much. If I travel to Jiaxing next time, I will definitely eat it again, order a spicy Tongxiang pot and experience this luxurious meal with rich flavor in the south of the Yangtze River in all directions.
