Leguang expressway is the double track of Guangdong section of Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao and expressway, starting from Xiaotang at the junction of Hunan and Guangdong in the north, passing Dayaoshan, Lechang, Qujiang, Yingde and Qingyuan in the south, and finally reaching Huashan Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou, connecting Guangzhou Airport Expressway and expressway in Zhao Hua (Zhaoqing to Huadu).

After the completion of Shaoguan section of Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, the number of transport vehicles has increased rapidly, the transport capacity has been saturated for a long time, and the transport pressure is enormous. Leguang expressway started construction with a total investment of 33.342 billion yuan, which is the longest route in China, the largest investment scale and extremely difficult technology. [4]

According to the design, the highest altitude of Leguang expressway is only 398 meters. Compared with the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway in northern Guangdong, the highest altitude is 806 meters, and the line crosses the alpine mountain area, which is very easy to freeze, so the probability of encountering low-temperature ice and snow weather in this section is greatly reduced. Leguang expressway adopts the bridge and tunnel group design scheme to make the road surface as flat as possible and effectively protect the ecology and farmland along the line: Leguang expressway has a total length of 302km, of which106km is a bridge and tunnel, and Leguang expressway has a bridge and tunnel ratio as high as 35%, and 226 bridges have been erected along the line, with a total length of 70km; 28 tunnels were built. There are 27 interchanges in Leguang Expressway, including Shipingxi, Meihuabei, Lechang, Yangxi, Ruyuandong, Baitu, Wushi, Zhangshi, Shakou, Hong Ying, Yingde, Lianjiang, Li Xi, Gaotian, Jiangkou, Yuantan, Wangzishan, Ladder, Huacheng, Chongyang, Tangliao and Lishi. The entire line of Leguang Expressway is monitored, and a camera is installed every two kilometers. In key road sections and tunnels, the management also installed automatic instruments such as abnormal event detectors and microwave detectors, and combined with vehicle-mounted and hand-held mobile terminals for road patrol, it can grasp the on-site situation such as road traffic flow information and traffic accidents at the first time. Leguang expressway also enables meteorological monitoring equipment to provide accurate meteorological information for passengers. Through video detection and tracking technology, Beidou satellite positioning system and other technologies, Leguang Expressway has solved the problem of no satellite signal in the tunnel and realized real-time monitoring of key vehicles in the whole process.
