What are the climate types in North America?

North America spans three zones and has various climate types, but most areas belong to temperate continental climate, with polar climate along the Arctic Ocean and temperate marine, Mediterranean and tropical desert climate along the Pacific Ocean. The West Indies and the Isthmus of Central America belong to the savanna climate and the rainforest climate. The coastal area of the Gulf of Mexico north of the Tropic of Cancer has a subtropical monsoon humid climate. Because the Central Plains runs from south to north, cold waves and hurricanes have become disastrous weather in North America.
