What's the climate like in New Zealand?

After working and vacationing in New Zealand for one year and three months, I basically traveled to the north and south islands, where the blue sky has never been seen since I returned to China, and the stars there have never been seen since I returned to China. The temperature in winter is similar to that in the south, but it is dry and cold, which is actually not as cold as in the south. South Island is expected to be colder and snowy. The highest temperature in summer is generally not higher than 28 degrees, so New Zealanders basically don't need air conditioning. But the temperature difference between day and night is generally very large. Some places, such as Otago, where I have been, are only 6 or 7 degrees in summer morning. The wind in the capital Wellington is really strong. The weather on the west coast of South Island is terrible. It rains almost every day in winter.

It is certain that the four seasons are not as good as spring. I lived in Christchurch, South Island for three years, and now I live in Auckland for two years. There is a great temperature difference in a day. You may wear vest shorts at noon in summer, and you must wear a coat when you go out at night. I've been here for a long time now. I don't take an umbrella in rainy days like others because the wind is too strong to take an umbrella. But I don't agree with the saying that it is always cloudy. As long as it doesn't rain, it will almost cry. After traveling to Queensland, Australia for more than a week, I still feel that the scenery in New Zealand is more beautiful. I think New Zealand is more beautiful than Australia in winning the ocean. I came to Auckland in early February this year. When I left, there was a cold wave in China, and the water pipes at home were frozen. As soon as I got off the plane, I felt the "enthusiasm" of the south for half a year. This is definitely "hot". Although the locals say it's late summer, it doesn't look like autumn at all.

A friend of Kiwi told me that February-April is also a beautiful season in Auckland, because it is neither too hot nor too cold, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is not big (but it is really sunny, so I suggest buying sunscreen here, which is better than domestic ones and lower in price). Since mid-April, the temperature in Auckland has dropped a little after a rain, and the autumn is getting stronger and stronger, with a great temperature difference between morning and evening. In the afternoon, the sun is very hot-generally speaking, it goes down layer by layer (I'm afraid of the cold). In the last ten days, I took advantage of the holiday of $ term 1 to travel to the South Island. The South Island and the North Island are still different. Especially in Queenstown, it's so cold in the morning and evening that the streets are basically pedestrians wearing light down jackets (especially compatriots from the motherland), but the locals still run on the road in short-sleeved shorts as usual.
