A letter to Tom asking about the weather, an English composition

Dear Tom,

How are you? Everything is fine here.

Last week we had a big storm here, and a large tree was broken in our school. Two windows were also broken. Fortunately we were not required to go to school on that day. Otherwise there would be someone hurt in such a bad weather.

How about you? I heard that New York is very hot now. Do you usually have warm days in autumn, or is it something unusual? Can you go swimming, or go somewhere that is for children?
