Is there a difference between Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula?

First of all, we can be sure that there is a difference between Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula. They look the same, but they cover different fields. Shandong Peninsula is divided by Xiaoqing River estuary and Rizhao Xiuzhen River, while Jiaodong Peninsula is divided by Jiaolai River. The northern part of Jiaolai River is in Laizhou Bay, while the southern part is in Jiaozhou Bay of Qingdao. We can also simply understand that Shandong Peninsula includes Jiaodong Peninsula, and Jiaodong Peninsula cannot represent all Shandong Peninsula. At present, it is customarily called Shandong Peninsula in weather forecast and other geographical divisions, but in some cases of economic development, it is generally called Jiaodong Peninsula, because the cities included in Jiaodong Peninsula generally refer to Weihai, Yantai and Qingdao. The development speed of these three cities is basically among the best in Shandong Province, especially Qingdao and Yantai, which are developing very rapidly. Moreover, in terms of language and customs, Jiaodong Peninsula is also very different from Shandong Peninsula. But at present, as long as the eastern Shandong is a line along the north-south coast, it can be regarded as a peninsula, but only Yanweiqing three cities can be called Jiaodong Peninsula, and even the narrow Jiaodong Peninsula only includes the northern part of Qingdao. Dongying and Binzhou can even be regarded as northern cities in Shandong Peninsula, but they belong to Jilu Mandarin in language, while southern cities in Shandong Peninsula, such as Rizhao, speak Central Plains Mandarin. The Yanweiqing area of Jiaodong Peninsula speaks Jiaoliao Mandarin. Basically, Weifang is a transitional zone between the two regions. At present, Shandong is undergoing drastic reforms. In the future, Shandong's economic development in the north will be better and better, and the economic circle to be built will definitely be the peninsula economic circle. In addition to Jiaodong, Weifang, Zibo and Jinan will definitely be included in the peninsula. In the future, with the construction of high-speed rail and Bohai Passage around the Bohai Sea, the Bohai Economic Circle built in the north will certainly be within the peninsula. Both Jiaodong Peninsula and Shandong Peninsula are just one region, and there is not much difference. Welcome to pay attention to the "geographically interesting" message and discuss it together.

I took the college entrance examination for liberal arts, and studied China geography and world geography. China has three peninsulas! Shandong Peninsula, Liaodong Peninsula, Leizhou Peninsula. The largest of which is Shandong Peninsula. Is there a difference between Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula now? There must be a difference. The first is the size difference. Shandong Peninsula is bigger than Jiaodong Peninsula. This is the relationship between big circles and small circles. Shandong Peninsula is a big circle, Jiaodong Peninsula is a small circle, Shandong Peninsula contains Jiaodong Peninsula, and Jiaodong Peninsula is only a part of Shandong Peninsula.

Now Jiaodong Peninsula mainly includes Yantai, Weihai and Qingdao, while Shandong Peninsula includes not only Yantai, Weihai and Qingdao, but also Zibo, Weifang and Rizhao. Shandong Peninsula can fully represent Jiaodong Peninsula, but Jiaodong Peninsula cannot fully represent Shandong Peninsula. This size varies greatly, so don't confuse it.

I once had the opportunity to set foot in Shandong and Qilu, but I was brilliant, but I didn't go to Taishan to see the sunrise, Yantai Weihai to see the sea, Qingdao to see German architecture, and I wanted to go to the sorghum fields written by Mo Yan to see if Weifang had red sorghum and fly kites. Last summer, my son went to Yantai Weihai Qingdao in Jiaodong Peninsula for a free trip and sold me Laoshan black tea. How I want to go to Shandong again and see the great Shandong. Of course, I will go to Jiaodong Peninsula first. When I was young, I read many novels, many of which were related to Jiaodong Peninsula and Shandong. I have been to Laiwu, Linyi, Zaozhuang, Tai 'an, Qufu, Jining and Jinan, and I really want to savor Qingdao, Weihai and Yantai when I have the opportunity.

Is there a difference between Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula?

Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula are of course different!

Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula are two different geographical concepts.

Shandong Peninsula, Liaodong Peninsula and Leizhou Peninsula are the three major peninsulas in China, and Shandong Peninsula is the largest peninsula in China.

Geographically, Shandong Peninsula is larger than Jiaodong Peninsula, which is a part of Shandong Peninsula.

Map of Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula

In other words, Shandong Peninsula is a big peninsula, including a small peninsula-Jiaodong Peninsula.

Map of Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula

It is obvious from the map.

For reference only.

I'm from Weihai. Let me talk about what is the traditional Jiaodong Peninsula. Old people have told us since childhood that the Jiaodong Peninsula in the traditional sense is to remove Laizhou in Weihai and Yantai, and add Laixi in Qingdao, which contains a lot of emotional factors, dialect factors and folk factors. Besides, people in the West District are called "old Chinese characters"! Jiaodong Peninsula people, how filial! Later, some people divided Jiaodong Peninsula with Jiaolai River as the boundary. It is estimated that it is only the heat in some aspects, and geographical factors are not excluded. Even to the east of Jiaozhou, we don't know the history, so we take it for granted. Jiaodong Peninsula "Jiaodong" means not to the east of Jiaozhou, nor to Jiaodong Town. Some people even want to include Jinan, which is even more nonsense from the perspective of economic development.

Jiaodong Peninsula is Shandong Peninsula, with different sizes. Xiao Jiaodong Peninsula, also known as Xiao Shandong Peninsula, is east of the connecting line between Jiaozhou Bay bottom and Laizhou Bay bottom, not east of Jiaolai River, but roughly east of the mouth of Dagu River and the mouth of Beijiaolai River (middle and lower reaches of the former Jiaolai River). Dajiaodong Peninsula, that is, the Great Shandong Peninsula, is east of the junction of Xiaoqing River estuary and embroidery needle estuary. I have always wondered why the coordinates are the mouth of the embroidered needle river in Rizhao, not the bottom of Haizhou Bay south of the embroidered needle river, which is the mouth of Qingkou River in Ganyu.

There is a big difference. Shandong Peninsula is more like a peninsula in geographical sense, while Jiaodong Peninsula is more inclined to a peninsula in administrative division sense.

Let's first look at the definition of the peninsula:

If you look at the map, you will find that the eastern part of Shandong, Hebei and Jiangsu coasts is surrounded by water on three sides, which conforms to the definition of peninsula.

However, the official definition of Shandong Peninsula is as follows:

The southern end remains unchanged, and the end point is the embroidery needle estuary at the junction of Lanshanguan and Lanshantou Sulu in Rizhao.

The northern end is the end of the seaside connection between Xinhu Town in Hekou District of Dongying City and Zhanhua District of Binzhou City. The connecting line between the two endpoints is bounded, and Shandong Peninsula is in the east.

Formal demarcation of Shandong Peninsula

Shandong Peninsula includes the Yellow River estuary, so the area of Shandong Peninsula is also expanding year by year.

Shandong Peninsula is the largest peninsula in China with a total area of about 73,000 square kilometers. Shandong Peninsula includes all of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai (excluding islands), and some borders of Rizhao, Weifang and Dongying.

Jiaodong Peninsula refers to the peninsula east of Jiaolai River.

Jiaodong Peninsula is not a real peninsula, because the geographical boundaries of the peninsula are straight lines, while Jiaodong Peninsula is bounded by rivers. This concept is put forward mainly because the three cities of Jiaodong have relatively independent culture and folk customs in Shandong Province, and their economies are relatively developed.

Jiaolai River is an artificial canal connecting Jiaozhou Bay and Laizhou Bay. In ancient times, it was a water shortcut from the Yellow Sea to the Bohai Sea. If the Jiaolai River is completely divided, Jiaodong Peninsula includes all Weihai, most Yantai and parts of Qingdao (excluding islands).

But at present, it is generally called "Jiaodong Peninsula", including all the regions on the mainland of Qingdao and Yantai Weihai. Meanwhile, Weifang has been trying to squeeze into Jiaodong. Therefore, Jiaodong Peninsula is more inclined to the peninsula in the sense of administrative division.

The boundaries between Shandong Peninsula and Jiaodong Peninsula are different. The scope of Shandong Peninsula is much larger than that of Jiaodong Peninsula, and Shandong Peninsula is still expanding year by year. At the same time, Shandong Peninsula is a peninsula in a purely geographical sense, while Jiaodong Peninsula is not.

There are great geographical differences, but there are not many geographical differences.

Jiaodong was originally short for the east of Jiaolai River. In the old days, it only included Yantai and Weihai, half of Qingdao (excluding Jiaozhou, Huangdao and Jiaonan) and parts of the northeast of Weifang. Now Jiaodong usually refers to five cities in Jiaodong, including Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai, Weifang and Rizhao, because this area includes Jiaolai Plain and Jiaodong Hilly Belt, which is divided according to the characteristics of river basins and landforms. This is like calling the cities along the Yangtze River that are not along the Yangtze River the Yangtze River Basin. Therefore, Jiaodong has changed from old Wei Qingyan to Wei Qingyan Day, but there are still obvious differences between Wei Qingyan and Weifang and Rizhao in terms of dialect, diet and habits.

The new version of Jiaodong Peninsula is actually the prototype of the modern version of Shandong Peninsula, but Dongying and Zibo are added to it, so the geographical difference between Jiaodong Peninsula and Shandong Peninsula is only two cities.

But why is Jinan on the map below? Because Shandong established the Shandong Peninsula Economic Circle several years ago, Jinan, as the provincial capital, certainly hopes to be linked with the most developed economic belt in Shandong, rather than playing with poor neighbors in western Shandong. Therefore, it was included in the planning of Shandong Peninsula economic circle in the early stage and became a member of "Shandong Peninsula". Otherwise, Binzhou, a coastal city, is not a member of Shandong Peninsula. How did Jinan, an inland city, become a member of the peninsula?

Therefore, despite the great geographical differences, the transportation is convenient now, and the decisive factor of zoning planning is greater than geography. So Jiaodong Peninsula and Shandong Peninsula are just one or two cities, and there is really not much difference.

Shandong Peninsula includes Zibo, Weifang, Rizhao, Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai.

Jiaodong Peninsula refers to Gao Qing, Yantai and Weihai.

Of course, Shandong Peninsula refers to Shandong, Jiaodong Peninsula, Yantai, Weihai and Qingdao!

Shandong Peninsula Shandong Peninsula is the largest peninsula in China, extending to Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea in the east of Shandong Province and Jiaolai Valley. It is 290 kilometers long from east to west, 0/90 kilometers wide from north to south and 50 kilometers narrow, with a total area of 26,600 square kilometers. It is bounded by the embroidery needle estuary at the junction of Xinhu Town and Zhanhua District (Dongying) in Hekou District, and at the junction of Lanshanguan and Lanshantou Sulu in Rizhao. The peninsula faces the sea on three sides, Liaodong Peninsula is separated from Bohai Bay in the north and Korea across the sea in the east.

Simply put, Shandong Peninsula connects Hebei coastline and Jiangsu coastline, and the Shandong part east of the connecting line is called Shandong Peninsula.

Jiaodong Peninsula Jiaodong Peninsula refers to the Shandong Peninsula area east of Jiaolai Valley or Jiaowei Plain. Refers to the area east of Jiaolai River, including Yantai, Weihai and parts of Qingdao.

Simply understood, Shandong Peninsula is the part of Shandong that extends to the ocean. Jiaodong Peninsula is an extension of Shandong Peninsula to the ocean.

Shandong weather forecast often uses the word "peninsula area", which refers to Jiaodong Peninsula. Jiaodong Peninsula has a maritime temperate monsoon climate, while Shandong Peninsula has a continental temperate monsoon climate except Jiaodong Peninsula. Generally speaking, the Shandong Peninsula in everyone's mind is called Jiaodong Peninsula, because Jiaodong Peninsula is an area with developed economy and marine economy.
