Why do cars driving on dry roads in hot weather have reflections similar to those in water?

This is air refraction, similar to a mirage.

Because the temperature near the ground is high, the air is heated and the density becomes smaller. With the increase of the distance from the ground, the temperature is getting lower and lower (relatively speaking), the air temperature is getting lower and lower, and the density is getting higher and higher. Uneven air density forms refraction phenomenon.
