Introduction to Master Huineng Who is Huineng?
I once saw such a story: two monks were absorbed in chanting in the Buddhist temple, and a gust of wind blew, and the banners in front were blown up. A monk said, "Brother, look at the banner moving." Another monk replied, "It's because the wind is blowing." Both of them stick to their own theories, and neither of them refuses to accept the other. They argued for a long time whether it was "fluttering" or "not shaking". A man interrupted an argument between two young monks. When they looked back, the speaker was actually Master Huineng, and Master Huineng went on to say, "That's a heartbeat." Most of our troubles are also the result of "heartbeat" When the heart is still, it doesn't matter if it doesn't move. Nothing or anyone can affect your heart, and you can easily live the happy life you want.
Brief introduction of master Huineng
Huineng is a Huineng, a monk in the early Tang Dynasty, and the sixth generation founder of Zen in China. The common surname is Lu, and his ancestral home is Xinxing, Guangdong, where he lives and disseminates law.
Huineng, common name Lushi, lost his father at the age of three and came from a poor family. He cut wood for a living and has been a foster mother for a long time. At the age of twenty-four, Huineng resigned from her mother and became a monk, and went to visit Master Hong Ren, the fifth ancestor, in Dongshan, Huangmei, qi zhou. Master Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, made a living by chopping wood since he was a child. He didn't know a word and couldn't write. His only work, Six Ancestors Tanjing, is a record of what his disciples said to him before his death. However, among all the Buddhist works of China people, only the Tanjing written by Huineng, the sixth ancestor, is regarded as "Jing", and other people's works can only be called "Lun", which shows his position in the history of Buddhism in China. Six ancestors died in the summer of 7 13, when the south was hot and humid. His body has been preserved until now, without any antiseptic treatment, and has not rotted for nearly 1300 years. During the Anti-Japanese War, Japanese soldiers stationed in Nanhua Temple did not believe in his magic. They cut open the body of the sixth ancestor from behind and found that all the internal organs were intact. Only then did they believe that Buddhism was boundless, recovered their health, and bowed down to God. Now the six ancestors are well preserved in the Guangdong History Museum.
Who is Huineng?
Six ancestors of Zen Buddhism. Originally surnamed Lu, his father was a small official, was demoted to Lingnan, and died young. His family is poor and lives alone with his mother. When I grow up, I sell firewood for a living and can't read. When I was in my twenties, I suddenly realized when I heard people recite the Diamond Sutra. So I settled down my mother and went to work in Tuozengji, where Uzu Hongren lived. After being selected by Hong Ren, he was secretly given the mantle and became the sixth ancestor of Zen. Hong Ren was afraid that he would be persecuted by other disciples, so he sent him away. He lived in seclusion for more than ten years according to the teacher's instructions, and was officially assassinated by Master Indo-Sect. Later, he taught in Baolin Temple and other places and died at the age of 76. He denied the existence and change of objective things, and once wrote: "Bodhi is not a tree, nor is a mirror a stage. There is nothing, so there is no dust. " In his view, all living beings have Buddhist nature, advocate enlightenment, and deny the possibility of expressing Buddhism in written language, which has played a great role in the development of Zen. He is actually the real founder of Zen.
