Where is Wan 'an Bridge?

Wan 'an Bridge is located at the eastern end of Qishuyan Old Street, Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province.

Wan 'an Bridge spans Sanshan Port and is located on the north bank of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It was built by Tongzhi Wuhuan in the 14th year of Ming Chenghua (1478), and it was named Qishuyan Bridge, also known as Wan 'an Bridge, which symbolizes the happiness of all people.

It was rebuilt in the eighth year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1495) and in the thirteenth year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1874), and now it is a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit.

Wan 'an Bridge is a single-span bridge with parallel longitudinal and cross sections. It consists of granite, stone arch ring and stone pier. The center of the bridge deck is inlaid with Longmen stone with embossed petals of rotating lotus leaves, and thick guardrails are placed on both sides of the bridge deck. A pair of bridge ears are placed on both sides above the arch ring.

The bridge forehead is engraved with the words "Rebuilding Wan 'an Bridge". The bridge is 28.5 meters long, with a clear span of 5.6 meters, a beam bottom elevation of 5.62 meters, a deck elevation of 6.34 meters, a bridge top width of 3.75 meters and a bridge embankment width of about 4.5 meters. The steps of the East and West Bridges are 28, 12.

Introduction of Wujin District:

Wujin District, belonging to Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the east of Changzhou City, across the Yangtze River and Taihu Plain, surrounding Changzhou City, bordering on Binhu District and Jiangyin City of Wuxi City in the east, Yixing City in the south and Taihu Lake in the west, with a total area of 1066 square kilometers.

Wujin District belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, with wet and cold weather, four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall and long frost-free period.

Spring is usually from March to May, and southeast winds prevail. During this period, the warm and humid air mass from the ocean gradually strengthened and the temperature rose. The strong cold air in the north sometimes goes south, alternating with warm and humid air masses, resulting in sunny and hot weather with little rain and alternating cold and warm weather, with continuous rainy weather for more than 5 days every year. Severe late frost in late March and early April will do harm to agricultural production.
