The Historical Evolution of Huangzhang Town

Huangzhang Town has always been called a "town" and has never set up a township. It was built in Jingtai period of Ming Dynasty. At first, Zhang and Huang's ancestors opened an inn here, selling tea, porridge and other commodities for tourists traveling between Lianzhou Bay and Zhanghuangjiang. Since then, businessmen from all over the country have moved in and the market has gradually expanded. Because this place originated from Zhang and Huang, "Huang Zhang" got its name.

In the 19th year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty (43 years), Hepu County moved from Xuwen (now Haikang, Guangdong) to Jiuzhou (now Quanshui Town, south of Huang Zhang, Hepu County), and governed western Guangdong, Qinlian, Yulin and Hainan Island. To the early Southern Dynasties, Zhanghuangli belonged to Guangzhou.

In the seventh year of the Southern Song Dynasty (47 1), Yuezhou County was established, located in Yangtianwo, 20 kilometers southeast of Huang Zhang. The secretariat was written by my uncle Chen. Yuezhou County has jurisdiction over 20 counties in the vast area from Maoming in the east, Xuwen in the south, Lingshan in the west and Rongxian in the north. At one time, Yuezhou County was also in charge of Hainan Island, and at the same time it was a provincial-level organizational system with Guangzhou.

In the first year of Sui Daye (605), Yuezhou was changed to Luzhou, and the city governance was moved from Yangtianwo to the original site of Hepu County governance (now Jiuzhou Village, Quanshui Town).

In the eighth year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty (634), Yuezhou was changed to Lianzhou, which was named after Dalian Mountain in the east.

In the eighth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (983), Lianzhou was abolished, and the Taiping Army was established to administer Haimen Town (now Lianzhou Town), and then Lianzhou was restored.

From the Yuan Dynasty to the seventeenth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1280), Lianzhou was changed to Lianzhou Road, which belonged to Huguangxing Zhongshu Province.

In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), Lianzhou Road was changed to Lianzhou Prefecture, which belonged to Guangdong Chief Secretary. In the Ming Dynasty, Hepu County set up the Department of Canon History and three inspection departments of Levin, Yongping and Zhuchang, with 30 households in the county. Today Huangzhang Town belongs to Penglai Township and Gaoyang County Inspection Department.

In the first year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1644), Lianzhou Prefecture administered Qinzhou, Hepu and Lingshan counties, which were subordinate to Guangdong Province. In the eighth year of Daoguang (1828), Hepu County was divided into sixteen regiments and forty-eight bureaus, and Huangzhang Town belonged to An 'an Regiment, which administered Anshi and Malan. In the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), Fangcheng County was established, Qinzhou was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, and Lianzhou Prefecture governed Hepu and Lingshan counties, during which the Eighth League School was established in Huang Zhen. In the thirty-second year of Guangxu (1906), Hepu County was the state capital of Lianqin Road. In the third year of Xuantong (19 1 1), Lianqin Road was renamed as Qinlian Military Government and was stationed in Lianzhou Town. Hepu County followed the Ming system in Qing Dynasty, and the inspection department was based in Huang Zhen, which governed 14 townships.

In the first year of the Republic of China (19 12), Lianzhou government was abolished, and Hepu was directly under the political branch of Qin Lianjun. In the same year, it was changed to Qinlian appeasement department, which was revoked in three years and moved to Qinlian Road in nine years. Hepu County is directly under Guangdong Province. Hepu County has sixteen districts and fifty-two bureaus (townships), and Huangzhang Town belongs to Lian 'an District. In the eighteenth year (AD 1929), Huangzhang Town was divided into Zhanghuangdong Town and Zhanghuangxi Town. From nineteen to twenty-five, Hepu County was successively subordinate to the appeasement office in the southern district of Guangdong Province and the administrative supervision office in the eighth district. In 22 years, Huangzhang Town belonged to the 34th district of Hepu County. In the thirty-second year, the fourth area of Hepu County was stationed, with jurisdiction over Changle, Anshi, Longmen, Baishishui, Beisai (Tong), Jiuzhou and Shiyong.
