Ninghai County is located in the east of Zhejiang Province, along the southern coast of Ningbo, between Xiangshan Port and Sanmen Bay, and at the intersection of Tiantai Mountain and Siming Mountain. Xiangshan County in the east, Sanmen County in Taizhou City in the south, Tiantai County in Taizhou City and Xinchang County in Shaoxing City in the west, and Fenghua District in the north. It is located between 29 06' and 29 32' north latitude and between12109'-12149' east longitude.

Ninghai County is located between Tiantai Mountain Range and Siming Mountain Range, with the back mountain facing the sea, high in the west and low in the east, belonging to the coastal hilly area.
