How long can the plane delay be compensated?

Usually, if the plane is delayed for more than 4 hours, the airline should compensate the passengers.

According to the different reasons for the delay, airlines have different compensation standards for aircraft delays, and compensation will only be given if the delay is caused by the carrier. If the flight delay is caused by the airline to which the carrier belongs, the relevant expenses for returning and changing the passenger's visa shall be borne by the airline. If the delay is more than 4 hours, a rest place shall be arranged, and ticket discount, mileage equivalent compensation or cash compensation shall also be provided.

Usually, if the delay time is between 4 and 8 hours, the airline ticket discount, mileage or other equivalent compensation in 300 yuan, or RMB 200 yuan compensation will be provided; If the delay time exceeds 8 hours, 450 yuan air ticket discount, mileage or other equivalent compensation, or RMB 300 yuan compensation will be provided.

If it is not the fault of the carrier, the delay is caused by weather, emergency, air traffic control, safety inspection, passengers or public safety. Because these reasons are not caused by the fault of the carrier, the airline will not provide compensation when the plane is delayed for these reasons.

Legal basis of economic compensation for aircraft delay;

In the Guiding Opinions on Economic Compensation for Flight Delays issued by the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China in 2004, there is no uniform compensation standard for civil aviation delayed flights, but it is clearly pointed out that the weather and mechanical failures that cause aviation delays are force majeure, and there is no need to compensate passengers for any economic and spiritual losses caused by force majeure.

In addition, the Guiding Opinions on Economic Compensation for Flight Delay also stipulates that flight delays of more than 4 hours must be reported to the local civil aviation authority immediately. Airlines should make economic compensation for passengers who have been delayed for more than 4 hours due to their own reasons; If the flight delay exceeds 12 hours due to subjective or objective reasons, the right to operate the flight or route shall be suspended or revoked according to the seriousness of the case.
