Put a fire hydrant and pour thousands of tons of water into the ground. A man in Yangzhou is suspected of illegal theft.
I've seen people arrested for stealing money, but have you seen anyone bailed for stealing water? Recently, a man, Laotian (pseudonym), was arrested by the police for stealing water.
It turned out that in order to irrigate his farmland, men actually "stole water" from fire hydrants with water pumps, and then connected the water to the fields with water pipes. The theft was nearly 1000 tons. At present, Laotian has been released on bail pending trial, and the case is still under investigation.
"Comrade police, there seems to be something wrong with the fire hydrant here!" Some time ago, the staff of a residential property company in Yizheng Shierxu reported to the police that it was suspected that someone had stolen the water from the fire hydrant near the residential area.
The water in the fire hydrant is the "life-saving water" in case of fire. If it is misappropriated casually, it will not only waste water resources, but also lead to the abnormal use of sudden fires and affect firefighters' extinguishing. After receiving the alarm, the police immediately launched an investigation. After on-site observation, it was confirmed that someone had stolen the water from the fire hydrant.
In order to find out the "water thief" as soon as possible, the police conducted a visit. The police got an important clue that Laotian, a large planter nearby, was seriously suspected. The police did not act easily and chose to wait in ambush until Mr. Tian came to the fire hydrant again and skillfully connected the water pipe to "steal water". The police suddenly appeared and arrested Mr. Tian in one fell swoop.
After the trial, Mr. Tian confessed to the fact that he opened the fire hydrant privately and stole fire water. It turned out that Mr. Tian came to Shierwei many years ago and contracted a number of farmland, most of which were nearby. Some time ago, the climate was dry and there was no rain. Seeing the crops wither in his field, he was very distressed and thought of watering some water to quench his thirst.
However, the site area is too large and the water fee is too expensive, so there has been no action. Until one day, when Mr. Tian passed by a nearby fire hydrant, he suddenly realized. He felt that the water in it was free and close to his field, so he had a ready-made "irrigation machine". So, he found a water pump, a long water pipe and so on. Few people water his farmland from his home when he turns on the fire hydrant.
Laotian confessed that this is not the first time he stole water from a fire hydrant. By the time he was arrested, he had irrigated farmland with fire water for more than 20 hours. According to rough statistics, nearly 1,000 tons of fire-fighting water has been used, with a total value of about 3,000 yuan, which does not include the water wasted during the use.
After being caught by the police, Mr. Tian also realized his mistake and actively cooperated with the police investigation. At present, Laotian has been released on bail pending trial by Yizheng police for allegedly stealing fire water, and the case is still under investigation.
The police reminded that public water is an important guarantee for maintaining urban fire safety. Except for fire or special water needs, no unit or individual may turn on the fire hydrant without authorization, otherwise, relevant legal responsibilities will be investigated for theft. In addition, opening fire hydrants without authorization is not only stealing water, but also occupying and misappropriating fire control facilities without authorization, which violates the fire control law.
Therefore, while raising awareness of water conservation and cherishing water use, citizens must actively supervise illegal water use such as fire water use.
