How to read weather radar chart

The color of weather radar generally increases from blue to purple. The darker the color, the smaller the area, the greater the probability of precipitation and the stronger the intensity. In summer, areas covered by red areas are prone to short-term strong convective weather.

Look at this example:

On the weather radar map, the area surrounded by green echoes generally looks like rain. Generally speaking, light green means it may rain, and dark green means it must rain.

The radar echo changed from blue to purple, and the rainfall intensity gradually increased. The bright yellow area generally corresponds to the rain intensity of about 10 mm/h, and the warm red radar echo generally corresponds to the rain intensity of about 20 mm/h, and there may be strong convective weather such as short-term thunderstorm, strong wind and hail.
