First of all, hail must form in convective clouds. In the process of rising with the airflow, the ice particles will absorb nearby small ice particles or water droplets and gradually become larger and heavier. When the updraft cannot bear its weight, the ice particles will It will fall downwards, but the ice particles at this time are not big enough. If we encounter a stronger wave of updraft at this time, the falling ice particles can be pushed upwards, and the ice particles can continue to absorb smaller ones. Water droplets condense into ice.

Under the repeated rise and fall, adsorption and condensation, the ice particles will become larger and larger. When the ice particles grow large and heavy enough, and there is not enough updraft to push them upward, It will fall to the ground. If it reaches the ground as solid ice particles, it is called hail. If it melts into water and falls, it becomes rain. It can be seen that if the air is warm and humid, has enough moisture, and has strong convection, hail may occur.

Only when the temperature is very high in summer can there be enough updraft for hail to form.
