Personally, I think the scenery is different in every place and every season.

Quick guide to Zhangye:

Route 1: Arrive at noon, visit the Drum Tower, Big Buddha Temple, and Wooden Pagoda in the afternoon, taste special snacks in the antique street, stay or leave.

Route: Go to Matisi Temple in the morning, ride horseback to Songlin Waterfall, visit the grottoes, and return in the afternoon. You can also stay in a tent and continue visiting and return the next day.

Zhangye Scenic Area

1. Zhangye Danxia National Geopark

The Danxia in Zhangye ranges from red to yellow, from gray to white, and purple and blue huangbi. The wonders of nature are amazing. In the scenic area, No. 2 can see the panoramic view, No. 3 can enjoy the most beautiful sunset, and No. 4 and No. 5 can see the Daoshan Fire at sunrise, so it is best to spend a whole day playing.

The best season is from September to October.

2. Binggou Danxia

You can take the bus from Zhangye to Mengjiazhuang at Zhangye West Bus Station. Ticket price is 12 yuan.

3. Big Buddha Temple

Take bus No. 5/6 in the city, get off at the north entrance of the square, and just walk.

4. Muta Temple

Take the city bus No. 5/6 and get off at the north entrance of the square.

It's not bad now! There are deserts, Gobis, glaciers, ski resorts, Danxia landforms, Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon, etc. It’s not too cold in Zhangye this year. Has it snowed yet? Maybe it won’t be suitable in another month.

1. If you like natural landscapes, we recommend:

(1) Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon ~ Colorful Danxia Geopark. In the morning, visit Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon, return at noon, and after dinner, visit Colorful Danxia Geopark in the afternoon.

(2) Zhangye National Wetland Park ~ Colorful Danxia Geopark. The wetland is located in the urban area and is a free attraction. You can go to Colorful Danxia Geopark in the morning and in the afternoon.

2. If you like cultural landscapes, we recommend:

(1) Zhangye Grand Buddha Temple ~ Colorful Danxia Geopark. In the morning, we visited Zhangye Grand Buddha Temple in the urban area and in the afternoon we visited Colorful Danxia Geopark.

(2) Zhangye Matisi Temple ~ Zhangye Colorful Danxia Geopark. You can start at Matisi Temple in the morning and enjoy the colorful Danxia in the afternoon.

I can only recommend so much for one-day tours. Because the colorful Danxia is the most attractive place at sunset, I suggest you visit the colorful Danxia in the afternoon on a sunny day.
