How to practice "meditation" while traveling?
In the hot summer, it is suitable to go to the north for a vacation to cool off. In recent days, my family has traveled to Holingol, Aershan, Xilingol and other places in eastern Inner Mongolia to experience the grassland ethnic culture and experience a refreshing forest trip.
On the way from Holingol to Aershan, I saw large tracts of pasture and herds of cattle and sheep. Against the backdrop of the blue sky, I felt as happy as when I traveled to New Zealand at the beginning of the year. , cleanse the dusty heart.
In the weather in early August, the heat in the Yangtze River Delta region remained high, generally above 37 degrees. In the eastern part of Inner Mongolia where I traveled, the highest daytime temperature did not exceed 25 degrees, and it was already feeling cool in autumn. The Aershan region is rich in natural high-quality "holy water". Visitors can drink the water directly at a "spring" holy place on the side of the road. Drink the cool spring water, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy a peaceful mood in the refreshing Aershan.
In my opinion, the main thing when traveling in Aershan is not to see the scenery, but to cultivate one's mind in the pure scenery, which requires "meditation" training.
What is "meditation"? When many people hear "meditation", they think it is a mysterious activity in yoga that allows people to "sleep". In fact, "meditation" can be applied to our daily work and life.
For example, Google organized employees to conduct meditation training. According to Mr. Wan Weigang's introduction in the "Elite Daily Class" column of "Get", engineers at Google are very dedicated to their work and often find themselves unable to extricate themselves from work. As a result, poor rest affects their health and their work efficiency is also reduced. There was an engineer within Google who happened to know how to meditate, so he held a meditation class for his colleagues. As a result, senior leaders at Google saw the results were so good that they asked him to teach meditation to employees.
"Meditation" training can not only help you relieve huge work pressure, but also help you learn to focus on the current thing. People who can meditate will devote themselves wholeheartedly to whatever they do, and they can maintain a novel attitude towards scenes that everyone is accustomed to. For example, he opens his laptop as if he were a two-year-old seeing a computer for the first time.
For people who often travel to places with good air, clear water and beautiful scenery, doing some simple meditation training during the trip will be beneficial to physical and mental health.
This time, I came to the Aershan region of Inner Mongolia and experienced "hot spring fish therapy" for the first time in a hot spring pavilion. When a group of small fish called "star fish" gather around your feet and chew the dead skin on your feet, you will feel a "little itch". At this time, if you focus on the "itching sensation" and perform 5-10 minutes of meditation training, it will help cultivate your concentration and sensitivity.
At that time, I concentrated on experiencing the "diligently nibbling" service of Xingzi Fish, especially the "itchy feeling" caused by the small fish nibbling on my toe skin, which put me into a state of total relaxation. Feel a "touch" like never before.
I didn’t expect that “meditation” training could bring such a peak experience. Therefore, I made up my mind to set aside a certain amount of time every day to focus on a special experience and conduct meditation training every time I travel.
So how to carry out simple meditation training? Teacher Wan Weigang introduced a simple and easy-to-learn meditation method in the book "Peak Performance":
1. Find a time without interruption and sit in a quiet place very comfortably;
2. Set an alarm clock so that you don’t have to worry about time;
3. Breathe deeply through your nose;
4. Breathe at a normal frequency and focus your awareness on the experience Breathe yourself and feel the rise and fall of your stomach with your breathing;
5. If other thoughts pop up in your mind during this process, don’t deliberately avoid it, acknowledge the thought and then put it away. Walk, your consciousness always just wants to breathe;
6. When the time is up, you can "call it a day", starting with 1 minute a day and gradually increasing the time.
If you have been practicing for a while and your skills have improved, you can use this method to focus on anything.
For example, if you find a wonderful scenery while traveling, you can find a quiet place to stand or sit down, set a 10-minute alarm on your mobile phone, take a few deep breaths, and then turn your awareness Focus on the scenery you are seeing, and when the alarm goes off, you can move on to the next scenic spot.
Such a meditative experience is difficult to express in words. If you don’t believe it, give it a try, it may add a unique experience to your journey.
