The smallest country in the world

Vatican city state (Latin: Status Civitatis Vaticanae;; Italian: Stato della Città del Vaticano), referred to as "Vatican", is an inland city-state located in the highland in the northwest corner of Rome, Italy. It is also the country with the smallest territory and the least population in the world, with a land area of only 0.44 square kilometers. Because it is bordered by Italy on all sides, it is called "China". It is the center of Catholicism in the world-the seat of the Holy See headed by the Pope, and the belief center of one sixth of the world's population. [ 1][2]

The Vatican means "the city of prophets". In the 4th century A.D., the Pope built Constantine Cathedral at the martyrdom of St. Peter, a disciple of Jesus in the northwest corner of Rome, and it was transformed into St. Peter's Cathedral in 15~ 16 century, becoming the place where the Catholic Church held the most solemn ceremony. [1] In 756, King Frank gave the city of Rome and its surrounding areas to the Pope, and then a papal state appeared in central Italy. After the resurrection of 1870, the Pope was forced to retreat to the Vatican Palace. 1929 Italy signed the lateran treaty with the Pope, recognizing the Vatican as a sovereign state with the integration of politics and religion. The Vatican is a neutral country and its territory is sacred and inviolable. [2]

Since most of the administrative organs of the Holy See are located in the Vatican City, when people use this word, it may refer to the Vatican city-state, the Vatican region, the Vatican or the Pope's residence, depending on the occasion. [2] Although the Vatican has not promulgated any laws on the official language, Italian is the most commonly used language. Because Catholicism has a large population in the world, the Vatican has the same important influence in the political and cultural fields as the United States, China and Russia. [2]
