What's the coldest weather in Northeast China? Who knows?
I was born and raised in the south and lived in the northern city for more than 10 years, so I should have some say in this debate. I want to say to those southern friends who are wrapped in coats and gloves and surf the internet by the stove on a cold night: you have worked hard! Although the lowest temperature in Beijing tonight is 8 degrees below zero and the cold wind is howling outside the window, I just need to wear a thin sweater indoors.
Winter in the north is not cold, because there are two worlds inside and outside. The northern cities have heating systems to ensure that the room temperature is not lower than 16 degrees. Sometimes the heating is too hot, and the room temperature exceeds 20 degrees, so it is necessary to open the window to cool down. In the rural areas in the north, there is a kang or a coal stove for heating, which is not much cold. There is no heating system in southern cities, and the indoor and outdoor temperatures are very close. It is strange that it is not cold in winter. When living in the south, getting up in the morning in winter is a very painful thing, and I really don't want to leave the warm bed. When you sleep at night, you need to wrap your head with a sweater and cover it with a thick quilt. Don't forget to take off your clothes and cover it with a quilt, but it is still possible to wake up in the middle of the night. Every winter, my hands are covered with chilblains, and the back of my hand is cracked with red holes, which is extremely uncomfortable. However, my frostbite is not serious. I remember a math teacher in high school. His hands were frozen, and he could see the bones. And happy northerners, many people have never even heard of frostbite.
Some southern friends who finally understand the truth or have experience in living in the north began to be indignant: why is there no heating in the south? Specify which city is heated and which city is not. Our country divides the north and south with the Qinling Mountains and Huaihe River as the boundary, but this is probably the product of the planned economy era, which may be unfair. The coldest places in winter are the provinces and cities along the Yangtze River, such as Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan. Like Guangdong, Yunnan, Hainan and other provinces, which belong to the south, there will be no cold feeling in winter. As to why there is no heating in the south, a netizen of Tianya Forum reached his own conclusion. He said: northerners without heating in winter will freeze to death, and it will make you feel uncomfortable at most if it is cold in the south. Of course it's a joke. I think the main reason for the lack of heating in southern cities is the cost. The structural characteristics of houses in the south are that the walls are relatively thin and there are only single-layer windows, so heating is not conducive to keeping warm. And the winter in the south is shorter. Building a huge heating system covering the city is not only a huge investment, but also a question of whether the energy supply is sufficient. However, with the development of national economy, some cities along the Yangtze River began to build independent heating facilities when building new houses, and many residents used air conditioners and electric heaters to keep warm.
Whether winter is cold or not, temperature can't explain everything, and it is also related to air humidity. The south is wet and the north is dry. In a humid environment, it is difficult to achieve a temperature of 0- 10 degrees. On the contrary, in a dry environment, MINUS 10-0 degrees will not be too cold. Northerners who winter in the south are not used to the cold there. Southerners who spend the winter in the north are like a duck to water. I once discussed the climate difference between the north and the south with a friend who is also from the south. He said that he finally understood why the ancient emperors of China liked the north as the capital, or that the north was very comfortable. Although this friend's historical knowledge is somewhat lacking, he tells the fact that the north is still comfortable.
