What kind of animal is an elephant?

Elephants are the largest terrestrial social mammals in the world.

Usually they live as a family, and sometimes several elephants get together to form hundreds of elephants. Elephants are characterized by long nose, big ears, big ivory, thick thighs, round body and small tail.

The gestation period of an elephant is 10- 12 months, the weight of a newborn elephant is 100 kg, and it takes 8- 14 years to reach sexual maturity.

Elephants inhabit various habitats, especially jungles, grasslands and river valleys. This group feeds on plants, and its food intake is huge, exceeding 225 kilograms per day, and its life span is about 80 years.
