Lvliang belongs to the semi-arid warm temperate continental monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons and great differences. Spring is dry, with little rain and windy; Summer is hot and rainfall is concentrated; Autumn is cool and the climate is pleasant; It is cold in winter and there is little snowfall. The average annual precipitation is 502.5 mm, the main peak of Guandi Mountain in Lvliang is a rainy center, with the annual precipitation above 700 mm, while the areas along the river in Linxian and Liulin are relatively dry, with the precipitation usually below 450 mm, and the seasonal distribution of precipitation is very uneven, with the highest in summer accounting for about 60% of the annual precipitation, and the lowest in winter, only about 3%, with great annual changes. The precipitation for many years is 2-3 times different from the youngest. The regional distribution of precipitation is very uneven. The average precipitation in mountainous areas is more than that in Pingchuan, and the southern mountainous areas are more than the northern mountainous areas. The annual average temperature is around 8-9℃, which is higher all year round. The effective accumulated temperature of 10℃ is 2534.7-3870.0℃. 1 month minimum temperature, the city's average temperature is -7.2℃, and the extreme minimum temperature is -30.5℃, which appears in northern Lan County. The highest temperature in July, the city's average temperature is 22.8℃, and the extreme highest temperature is 39.9℃, which appears in Fenyang City, Pingchuan. The annual average sunshine hours are 2351.7-2871.7 hours, and the frost-free period is generally133-178 days. Disastrous weather mainly includes drought, rainstorm, hail, frost and wind disaster.

Climate zoning

Lvliang has complex terrain and different climate. According to agricultural climatic resources and climatic conditions, the whole city can be divided into four different climatic zones.

① Hilly area in western Shanxi-mild drought in spring, arid agricultural climate area in Wei Xia.

It mainly includes Lishi, Liulin, Shilou and other areas south of Polin County, Lvliang City. The light and heat resources in this area tend to be in a medium state in Lvliang, and the precipitation is mostly concentrated in July-September, with heavy rainfall intensity and heavy rain. Due to steep slopes and excessive reclamation, floods are prone to occur. In spring, the high temperature, little rain, bare land, windy weather and frequent spring droughts directly affect the spring sowing work.

(2) Xingxian Hill-a mild agricultural climate zone with drought in spring and mild drought in summer.

This area includes Xingxian County and the area along the Yellow River north of Zijin Mountain. The main climatic disasters are severe drought and obvious drought in spring; Second, the precipitation is concentrated, the intensity is high, the rainstorm weather is heavy, and the soil erosion is serious. Third, autumn frost comes early, which often leads to the reduction of autumn crops.

(3) The mountainous area of Lvliang is an agricultural climate area with cold, drought in spring and no drought in summer.

Including the main mountain range of Luliang Mountain, the small basin between valleys in the upper reaches of Fenhe River and some plateaus, reaching Lanxian County in the north and Jiaokou in the south. The region has high terrain, cold climate, short growing period and obvious vertical climate change. The distribution of water and heat resources is not harmonious, there is little precipitation in the middle and high mountainous areas, soil erosion is serious and crop yield is very low.

(4) Basin-warm, dry in spring and sunny in summer.

Including Jiaocheng, Wenshui, Fenyang and Xiaoyi. This area is rich in light and heat resources, with a long growing period, and the irrigation conditions are better in Pingchuan area. The main meteorological disasters are drought and dry hot wind, which affect the wheat harvest. Sometimes there is rotten rain during the wheat harvest, and heavy rain and strong wind in summer cause lodging of tall crops and autumn frost, all of which can cause crop failure.

Meteorological disaster

① Drought. Drought is the most serious natural disaster in Lvliang. Lvliang is known as the "Nine Droughts in Ten Years", and its seasonal distribution law is as follows: First, spring drought is relatively common, which occurs to varying degrees almost every year, directly affecting the greening of winter wheat and the sowing of autumn grain; Second, in some years, the flood season is postponed or there is no flood season, resulting in severe drought years, which directly affects the agricultural harvest; Third, autumn drought occurs from time to time, which affects the sowing of winter wheat. 1997 to 2000, there was a drought for four consecutive years, which was rare in history.

② Hail. Hail is the main agricultural disaster weather in Lvliang, accompanied by strong winds and strong thunderstorms. It is characterized by obvious seasonality, strong locality and serious disasters. The distribution characteristics of hail in Lvliang are as follows: mountainous area is more than Pingchuan, wasteland is more than forest grassland; There are more dry years than waterlogging years, more days than nights, and more afternoons than mornings.

③ Heavy rain. Although Lvliang is famous for its drought, heavy rains often occur during the period of concentrated precipitation, causing floods and losses. 1988 the flood disaster in fenyang city has a great loss, and 1996 the rainstorm in xingxian county has a great impact. According to the analysis of statistical data, rainstorms in Lvliang mostly occur in July and August, accounting for 80% of the total annual rainstorms, and June and September account for 18%. Heavy rain is distributed in the north and less in the south, and there are more mountains and fewer rivers. It is most likely to appear in the afternoon to evening.

④ Frost. The characteristics of frost in Lvliang are as follows: there are more frost-free periods in the south than in the north, and there are more frost-free periods in Pingchuan than in mountainous areas, with great interannual variation.

⑤ Wind disaster. The gale in Lvliang mostly occurs in winter and spring, especially in spring. As the temperature rises in spring, the land thaws, the surface soil loses water quickly, and strong winds blow up the surface dry soil, resulting in sand blowing or sandstorm weather. According to statistics, the strong winds in Lvliang are mostly northwest winds, with an average of 7- 10 windy days above magnitude 8 every year.
