Nanxian origin

The origin of Nanxian County is as follows:

In the second year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1852), the Danei dike in Shishou County, Hubei Province, on the south bank of the Yangtze River burst and a large amount of sediment was deposited. On a big lake to the south of Ouchikou, a muddy continent with a width of 50 or 60 miles was formed, which was called "Zhou Nan" by nearby residents. In the 21st year of Guangxu (1895), with the approval of the Qing government, Fumin Hall of Zhou Nan Zhili Club was formally established in Wuzui. Two years later, the office moved to the new office in Jiudu. 19 12, Zhou Nan Zhili Guild Hall was renamed as Zhou Nan County, and the following year it was renamed as Nanxian Xiang Yan.

Nanxian County, which belongs to Yiyang City, Hunan Province, is located at the junction of Hunan and Hubei, in the hinterland of Dongting Lake, connected to Shishou, Gongan and Songzi in Hubei Province in the north, Anxiang and Hanshou County in Changde City in the west, Huarong County in Yueyang City in the east, Yuanjiang City in Yiyang City across the river in the south, and Datong Lake, Beizhouzi, Jinpen, Nanwan Lake and Qian Shan Red in the southeast.

The organizational system of Nanxian County was established late, only in the 21st year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1895), but it has a long history. Through investigation, the county found 40 cultural sites (including 20 Neolithic sites), 3 ancient tombs/kloc-0, 2 ancient buildings, 7 ancient stone carvings and 5 important historical sites in modern times, of which 6 1 was listed in Hunan Branch of China Cultural Relics Atlas, and 1 was a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.

1988, Nanxian was approved as "the old revolutionary county" by the State Council. 2019,65438/kloc-0 was selected as the "hometown of folk culture and art in China" on October 9th. In 2022, Nanxian achieved a regional GDP of 27.448 billion yuan.

Nanxian County is connected with Shishou, Gongan and Songzi in Hubei Province in the north, Anxiang and Hanshou counties in Changde City in the west, Huarong County in Yueyang City and Yuanjiang City in Yiyang City across the river in the east, and Datong Lake, Beizhouzi, Jinpen, Nanwan Lake and Qianshanhong in the southeast. It is one of the 36 border counties in Hunan Province.

Nanxian has a suitable climate, with annual average temperature 16.6℃, precipitation 1237.7 mm, rainy days 136.3 days, sunshine hours 1775.7 hours and evaporation 1236.2 mm, which belongs to the transition from subtropical to monsoon. As of September 25, 2022, the cumulative rainfall in 68 counties and cities such as Nanxian County in Hunan Province has exceeded the lowest record in the local history.
