How are sandstorms formed?
Sandstorm is the general name of sandstorm and dust storm, which refers to a serious sandstorm phenomenon in which strong winds blow up a lot of dust substances on the ground and drag them into the air, making the air turbid and the visibility less than one kilometer. Sandstorms are most common in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, North China, Chifeng and Zhangjiakou, and Beijing is also a frequent place for sandstorms. Sandstorms are usually accompanied by strong winds, and the dust they roll up can make the sky instantly disappear and yellow sand fill the sky. The formation of sandstorm needs conditions. Strong winds and strong winds are favorable factors for the formation of sandstorms, because they are the driving force for the formation of sandstorms, and the dust source is the material basis for the formation of sandstorms. Unstable thermal conditions are conducive to the increase of wind power and the development of strong convection, thus carrying more dust and rising higher. Summary: Favorable dust source distribution and favorable air instability conditions are the main reasons for the formation of dust storms or strong dust storms. In addition to the above reasons, drought is also one of the main reasons for the formation of sandstorms. The main natural disasters in sandstorm-prone areas such as North China, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang are drought, less rain and rising temperature, which are hotbeds of sandstorm formation. The main component of soil and yellow sand is silicate. When there is little rain and the temperature is getting warmer, the silicic acid on the silicate surface loses moisture, which makes the silicate soil micelle and sand surface negatively charged, repel each other, become aerosols, and cannot gather together to form sand blowing, that is, sandstorms. Sandstorms are essentially silicate aerosols with negative charges.
