Summer is coming, what do pigs fear most?

Pigs are aquatic animals. They like wet and low-lying places. Once attacked by external evils such as deficiency evil, thief wind, summer heat, dryness, cold, etc., it is often accompanied by dampness evil, and the condition is more serious, often showing symptoms such as burning blood and triple energizer. Moreover, the fat under the pigskin is thicker, the skin texture is tighter and the sweat glands are underdeveloped. Once the cold pathogen is felt, it is difficult to be discharged from the table, and it is easy to be converted into heat, resulting in a rapid increase in body temperature, flushing of the skin, yellow urine, constipation and listlessness.

First, pigs are naturally afraid of heat.

Pigs are warm-blooded animals, with thick subcutaneous fat, basically no sweat glands, slow heat dissipation in the body and heat intolerance. In hot summer, hot and humid weather has become a problem for pigs, especially large and medium-sized pigs and sows. Eating less, high fever (heatstroke, heatstroke) is fatal, and the fetus is injured.

The most suitable environmental conditions for Zhongda pigs and breeding sows are: temperature 65438 08℃-20℃ and relative humidity 50-70%. When the temperature rises to 35℃ and the relative humidity is higher than 65%, pigs can't stand it if it lasts too long. In the high temperature environment of 35℃-45℃ in summer, the pig's heat production is reduced, the feed intake is reduced, the thyroid secretion activity is reduced, the gastrointestinal peristalsis of the pig is slow, the water in the body is reduced, the intestine is not lubricated enough, the feed stays in the gastrointestinal tract for a long time, the rectal temperature is increased, and the digestibility is increased, which is manifested as constipation, dry stool and yellow urine.

At the same time, pigs can't dissipate heat through the body surface, but only rely on exhalation, and the blood is mostly distributed in the periphery and muscles of the body surface. Therefore, pigs have shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, open mouth breathing, rapid heartbeat, rising body temperature, reduced food intake, a large amount of gas produced in the stomach, oppressing the diaphragm, unable to breathe, and sudden death due to hypoxia. Pig farms where this happens in summer abound.

Second, I'm more afraid of lung heat.

Pigs are afraid of heat, especially lung heat. Because from the perspective of Chinese medicine, summer belongs to fire, lungs belong to gold, and gold is afraid of fire. The lung is the most important organ in the respiratory system and has the most frequent contact with the outside world.

A large and medium-sized pig needs to breathe about 20 kilograms of air every day, which is twice the intake and drinking water. When the temperature is between 38℃ and 45℃, the air that pigs breathe is hotter than their bodies, and the heat dissipation is slow. In order to keep the body temperature balanced, they constantly increase the heat dissipation by exhaling, inhale more, and accelerate the breathing frequency. More and more hot air (internal heat) accumulates in the body, forming chronic or acute heat stress.

The lungs also collapse, with more and more hot air, congestion in the lungs, severe congestion, rupture of blood vessels, and then pulmonary edema, more difficult breathing, entering a vicious circle, causing left heart failure and decreased resistance. Anterior respiratory virus (pseudorabies virus, influenza virus, blue ear virus, etc.). ), bacteria (Haemophilus parasuis, Pasteurella, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, etc. ), Eperythrozoon, Mycoplasma, etc. In 90% of sick pigs, there are lesions in the lungs-emphysema, consolidation, atrophy, inflammation, bleeding, necrosis and so on. And the lungs became the first important attack site.

So it can be said that in summer, protecting pig lungs can prevent high fever.
