Zhanggou Town is located in central Hubei, in the south of the Jianghan Plain and on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Han River. It borders Hanyang to the east, Qianjiang River to the west, Dongjing River to the south, facing Honghu Lake and Jianli, and pillowed on the Han River to the north by Tongtianmen and Hanchuan-Yidaishui. The municipality is 82 kilometers away from Wuhan, the provincial capital. The maximum horizontal distance from east to west is 78 kilometers, and the maximum vertical distance from north to south is 35 kilometers. It is shaped like a flying butterfly, with a total area of ??2,520 square kilometers, accounting for 1.35% of the total area of ??the province.

The city is an alluvial plain, high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The terrain is flat with little fluctuation.
