Characteristics of earthworm

Because there are many kinds of earthworms, their living environment and favorite feed are also different, so their living habits are slightly different, but they like temperature, humidity, darkness, ventilation, light, salt, shock and spicy, all of which are the same. Here is an introduction for farmers' reference.

1, likes temperature and is afraid of cold and heat.

Earthworms like to live in a warm environment. They are afraid of cold and heat. Dormancy at 0℃-5℃, stop growing above 32℃ and die above 40℃. The suitable temperature is 15℃-30℃, and the optimum temperature is 20℃-25℃. In order to obtain good breeding benefits, the best breeding environment of 20℃-25℃ must be maintained all the year round.

2, like humidity, afraid of soaking

Earthworms like to live in a humid environment, not too dry, but not too wet and not soaked (except water earthworms). The humidity preference mentioned here includes two aspects, one is the humidity of the feeding base soil, and the other is the humidity of the air. Generally, it is required that the humidity of the feeding base soil is 40%-60% (it is best to hold the base soil with your fingers and don't run down), and the relative humidity of the air should be adjusted to 60%-80%.

3, like the dark, afraid of light

Earthworms like to live in the dark, usually burrow into the soil or into the base material for food, and sometimes climb out of the ground for food at night. Because I am afraid of light, I have developed the habit of lying down during the day and going out at night. Earthworms have no eyes and can't see light, but they are covered with photosensitive organs. Strong light is extremely unfavorable to the growth and reproduction of earthworms, so earthworms always move in the dark, and the breeding environment should be chosen in the dark.

4, like sweet and afraid of spicy

Earthworms like to eat sour, sweet and fishy foods, such as rotten tomatoes, watermelon skins, rotten fruits and fish washing water. I am most afraid of eating spicy food, such as green onions, garlic, peppers and so on. When feeding earthworms with municipal solid waste, I have to pick out the spicy ones before feeding them.

5, like to be still and afraid of earthquakes

Earthworms like to live in a quiet environment and are most afraid of vibration. The farm should be chosen in a quiet place. Do not shake or often turn the foundation soil up and down. Frequent vibration will have adverse effects on the growth and reproduction of earthworms.

6. Love acid and fear salt

Earthworms like to live in acidic or neutral soil, or in an environment with water sources, and are most afraid of being close to salt, alkaline soil or saline-alkali water sources. If you encounter saline-alkali soil or water source, adjust the pH value. The total alkali should be adjusted with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and 2% carbolic acid water, otherwise the earthworm can't survive.
