mud-rock flow

5. 12 During the Wenchuan earthquake, there was no rainy weather in the disaster area, so there was no typical debris flow disaster during the earthquake, mostly caused by landslides. However, due to the serious damage to the mountain, the landslide deposits in the valley are loose and aftershocks continue. During the rainy season from June to September, mudslides occurred in many places in the disaster area. The Beichuan mudslide on September 24th, 2008 is a typical example.

When the 5. 12 Wenchuan earthquake occurred, there was no rainfall in the earthquake-stricken area. Therefore, the earthquake did not lead to a typical debris flow, because debris flow contains a lot of water. It has caused many landslides, which are further transformed into mudslides with broken rock particles and stones. However, due to the serious shaking and crushing of the mountain, a lot of loose landslide debris accumulated in the gullies, and the aftershocks continued, typical mudslides and their disasters occurred in some places in the disaster area. One of the typical events is the Beichuan mudslide on September 24th, 2008.
