This typhoon will have an impact on Nanjing.

It should be noted that with the gradual movement of Typhoon Du, the No.5 this year, it is expected that it will bring obvious stormy weather to most parts of Jiangsu from 27th to 30th, and the rain will intensify from 28th to 29th, with heavy rains in parts of Nantong, Suzhou, Wuxi, Taizhou, Yancheng, Lianyungang and Xuzhou. It is estimated that during the typhoon, the maximum wind force on land can reach 7-9. According to the forecast of Nanjing Meteorological Observatory, with the weakening of the cold vortex, the subtropical high moves slowly northward, and there are scattered thunderstorms in Nanjing.

Affected by Typhoon Du, there will be a systematic precipitation in Nanjing, with moderate to heavy rain and local heavy rain at night.

Conditions for typhoon formation:

1 should be a vast atmosphere with high temperature and high humidity. The temperature and humidity of the bottom atmosphere on the tropical ocean surface are mainly determined by the sea surface temperature, and typhoons can only form on the warm ocean surface with the sea surface temperature higher than 26℃-27℃.

2. There is a primitive whirlpool. In this way, in the early stage of typhoon formation, it will not disappear because the surrounding airflow directly flows into the vortex center, so it will soon fill up and disappear. In addition, in the typhoon-generating area, the difference of wind speed between high and low airflow directions is small, which is also the main reason why it is difficult to generate typhoons above latitude 20.

3. The vertical wind speed can't be too different, and the relative motion of the upper and lower air is very small, so that the latent heat released by water vapor condensation in the initial disturbance can be concentrated in the air column in the eye area of the typhoon, forming and strengthening the typhoon warm center structure.
