Can jackfruit saplings grow in the north?

Jackfruit is a tropical fruit tree and cannot grow in the north.

Jackfruit is vertically distributed below 300 meters above sea level. It needs a high temperature, humid and frost-free climate, and is suitable for areas where the annual average temperature is above 22-24℃, the average temperature in Leng Yue is not lower than 12℃, the absolute low temperature is not lower than 0℃, the accumulated temperature is above 7500℃ and the annual rainfall is1200-1800 mm.

Seedlings and young trees are sensitive to low temperature. When the radiation low temperature appears at 0℃, the terminal buds and leaves will suffer from cold damage, and when it drops to -2℃, dead branches will appear. When the average daily temperature of advection type low temperature is 9℃, the adult trees are seriously damaged by freezing.

More than 50 days of rainy and low temperature (8.9℃) weather occurred in the production area, and many plants froze to death. The drought resistance is moderate, the fruit often falls after a long drought, and there is too much rain during flowering, which also affects pollination.

Extended data:

Collect seeds

The jackfruit seedling tree bears fruit in 6-8 years; Thirty-year-old students reach the full fruit stage in different years. Generally, it blooms in February-March and matures in July-August. In some places, two flowers a year are collected.

Seed-collecting mother trees should be selected with fast growth, early fruiting and high yield. At the same time, the fruit should be large in the lower part of the trunk, large in fruit, thick and sparse in skin, plump and fully mature in meat, and left for a few days.

Soften the fruit, then break it, take out the seeds, wash them with clear water and dry them in the shade. Seeds are not resistant to storage, and their viability can only be maintained for about 20 days, so they should be harvested and sowed.
