Climate resources:
Sichuan’s climate is complex and diverse, with obvious zonal and vertical changes. The province is divided into three major climate zones based on differences in water, heat and lighting conditions. The Sichuan Basin is a humid subtropical climate zone. The thermal conditions in this area are good, and it is warm and humid all year round. The annual average temperature is 16~18℃, the accumulated temperature is 4000~6000℃, the daily temperature range is small, the annual temperature range is large, the winter is warm and the summer is hot, and the frost-free period is 230~340 days.
The basin has more clouds, fewer sunny days, and shorter annual sunshine hours, only 1,000 to 1,400 hours, which is 600 to 800 hours less than the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin at the same latitude. Rainfall is abundant, with annual rainfall ranging from 1,000 to 1,200 mm, more than 50% of which is concentrated in summer, with many nights of rain.
Southwestern Sichuan is a mountainous subtropical semi-humid climate zone. The temperature in this area is relatively high throughout the year, with an annual average temperature of 12 to 20°C. The diurnal range is large and the annual range is small. It is cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon, and the four seasons are not obvious. There are few clouds, many sunny days, and long sunshine hours. The annual sunshine hours are 2000~2600 hours. There is less precipitation and distinct dry and wet seasons.
There are 7 months of dry season in the whole year, with annual precipitation of 900~1200 mm, 90% concentrated from May to October. The valley area is affected by the foehn winds to form a typical dry and hot valley climate, and the mountains form a three-dimensional climate.
The alpine plateau alpine climate zone in northwest Sichuan. The area has a large altitude difference and obvious three-dimensional climate changes. From the river valley to the ridge, there are subtropical zone, warm temperate zone, mid-temperate zone, cold temperate zone, subarctic zone, frigid zone and permafrost zone.
The climate is generally cold temperate, with dry and warm valleys, cold and wet mountains, cold winters and cool summers, insufficient water and heat, with an average annual temperature of 4 to 12°C and an annual precipitation of 500 to 900 mm. The weather is sunny and the sunshine is sufficient, with 1,600 to 2,600 hours of sunshine per year.
The general characteristics are: obvious monsoon climate, with rain and heat in the same season; significant regional differences, with warm winters, spring droughts, hot summers, autumn rains, cloudy fog, less sunshine, and a long growing season in the east, while the west is cold , long winter, almost no summer, sufficient sunshine, concentrated precipitation, and distinct dry and rainy seasons.
Climate vertical changes are large and there are many climate types; there are many types of meteorological disasters with high frequency and wide range, mainly drought, followed by heavy rain, floods and low temperatures.
