Appreciation of Before the Thunderstorm

Mao dun

Get up early in the morning and walk to Xiaoshiqiao. It seems a little hot to touch the bridge stone. There was not a breath of wind all day yesterday. It sounded dry and loud for a while at night, and there was no wind. This night is more boring than the day. At dawn, two or three people were lying on the bridge. Maybe they trapped these stones again.

There is a gray curtain in the sky. Can't see the sun. However, the power of the sun seems to pass through the gray curtains and reach your head.

There is not even a drop of water in the river, and the soil in the center of the river is like a turtle shell. The field has long been like countless small ditches, more than two feet wide. Can you say they are not like ditches? Those pale soils are as dry as cement. It seems that they haven't spit out the hot air sucked in during the day after a night's work, and then something seems to come out of their long flat mouths like white smoke.

The people standing on the bridge have their pores closed, and their hearts are full of Tao Tao, as if they were going to vomit.

This morning, the sky was covered with gray curtains, without any holes or movements. There may be wind outside the curtain, but we covered it and threw the chicken feather off the bridge, but we didn't see it fluttering and pacing. It's like living in a big tube, and the air is sucked away. People take a deep breath with open arms, and it is just a sultry feeling when inhaling.

Sweat, just drill out, drill out, but like glue, it makes you feel uncomfortable all over, like a shell.

At about three o'clock in the afternoon, the elephant was about to * * * and opened its mouth. A crack suddenly appeared in the gray curtain of the sky! A crack in a letter! Like a bright blade across the curtain. However, when I crossed it, the curtain closed again, as if I hadn't crossed it, and there was no wind at all. After a while, the sky flashed and the gray curtains opened again. But what's the use?

It's like a giant holding a bright broadsword outside trying to break the gray curtain. It's like a giant growling and getting angry, and it's getting tighter and tighter, flashing all over the sky and glancing at the light of a broadsword, rumbling, and the angry roar of the giant comes from outside the curtain!

There is no flash and roar, it is still a dense gray curtain!

The air is twice as hot as before, and the curtains are twice as thick as before! It's doubly dark!

You will guess that the giant outside the curtain is wiping sweat and panting; Are you sure he will attack? You wait anxiously, waiting for the flash of lightning, waiting for the roar of the big knife that broke the gray curtain.

But you wait, wait, wait for the fly. They fly out of dirty places, buzz around you and bite you like glue. The golden fly in a red coat looks like a big shot. He just ate from the cesspit and squatted on the tip of your nose.

Waiting for mosquitoes, too Hum, like an old monk chanting, and like an old scholar reading ancient prose. Flies give you infectious diseases, but mosquitoes honestly want to drink your blood!

You jumped up and fanned it with a cattail leaf fan, but you drove away on one side and were attacked by a large group on the other. You shout loudly, and they only answer you with a snort, hum!

The cicada at the top of the tree outside sang a song: "Death! Go to hell! "

You are sweaty, thirsty and your hands are weak. You will feel that the end of the world can't be worse than this!

However, lightning flashed violently and lit up all corners. The giant outside the curtain tore the gray curtain to pieces at once! Boom, boom, he shouted triumphantly. Whoo-hoo-the wind that blocked the curtains for two whole days came at a super high speed! When cicadas are silent, flies escape, mosquitoes hide, and people are as cold as shells.

Huo! Huo! Huo! The giant's knife light is flying in the sky.

Boom, boom, come on! Speak louder!

Let the thunderstorm wash out a clean and cool world!

Mao Dun's lyric short chapters in 1930s swept away the gloomy and confused tone in the late twenties, and replaced them with fresh and vigorous vigor, wise and clear thinking and cheerful and optimistic fighting feelings. Before Thunderstorm, Dusk and Footprints on the Beach are the representatives of this kind of works.

Before Thunderstorm was first published in September 1930. In April of that year, Mao Dun, who lived in Tokyo, Japan, finally put aside the fog of depression and returned to the motherland to rejoin the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal struggle as a soldier. It was the darkest period in China. The Kuomintang reactionaries practiced fascist tyranny at home and surrounded the revolutionary forces crazily militarily, politically and culturally. Compromise and concession made the Japanese aggressors take the opportunity to advance step by step. China is a hell on earth. However, "fire is running", storms are brewing and revolutionary forces are developing inexorably. In the harsh political climate, the author is like a bird sensitive to wind and rain, calling for the arrival of a thunderstorm. "Before Thunderstorm" is a war song sung by the author to meet the thunderstorm in the hot summer. The work symbolically depicts the hot and desolate feeling before the thunderstorm, and symbolizes the social situation at that time with what you see and feel. While exposing the tyrannical rule of the Kuomintang, it showed the desperate struggle between revolution and counter-revolution, and confidently predicted the bright future of the revolution.

Symbolism is the main artistic technique in the works. "Gray curtains" symbolize the rule of darkness, "flies" and "mosquitoes" symbolize the accomplices of rulers, "cicadas" symbolize speculators in the shape of * * *, "giants outside the curtains" symbolize revolutionary forces, and the arrival of Thunderstorm symbolizes the rise of revolution. These symbolic images converge to form a magnificent artistic conception, full of revolutionary idealism and brilliance. The full text is naturally divided into four parts.

The first part describes the unbearable dryness and sweltering heat before the thunderstorm. The author started writing early in the morning, setting off the sultry weather with the heat of the bridge stone. Then I opened my eyes: the river bed was cracked, and the cracked ditch in the field was like a "flat mouth" spitting white smoke, and people were so dry that their pores were blocked and they vomited. This multi-angle rendering of dry and hot weather is just to symbolize the harsh social reality.

The second part focuses on the desperate struggle between the two forces before Thunderstorm. The author writes from morning to morning in chronological order, and then from morning to three o'clock in the afternoon. The "grey curtain" covers the sky more closely, and people live in "a big pipe with air pumped out". Sweat turns into glue, making people "like a fish about to * * *".

At this moment when life is about to suffocate, the "giant" with a knife outside the curtain appears! It struggled through the "gray curtains" with lightning and thunder. However, the curtain soon closed, split and closed again! Here, what a thrilling scene the exhibition presents to readers! The two forces fought fiercely, and it was difficult to win or lose for a while.

Just when people were eager for the giant to attack again, a group of ugly "flies" and blood-sucking "mosquitoes" came. They had a premonition that disaster was coming, so they rushed out to help others. The author described the disgusting faces of these accomplices and hooligans with spicy brushstrokes. "Cicada" sings loudly in the treetops, which seems unbearable, but when a thunderstorm really comes, they will be terrified.

The sky is doubly sultry, the curtains are doubly thick, and evil forces are rampant to the extreme!

In the last part, the author painted a magnificent picture with full political enthusiasm through romantic imagination! Light and darkness entered the white border to fight, only to see the giant's knife light flashing, lightning flashing, and the giant outside the curtain "tore the gray curtain to pieces at once"! Suddenly, the storm will come, which symbolizes the overwhelming revolutionary force and inspires people to think about the reality of the upcoming violent social revolution. Finally, the author shouted: "Let the thunderstorm wash out a clean and cool world!" Sublimate the idea of the work to a colorful artistic realm, and the full text ends with high-intensity notes.

The works not only successfully use symbolism to create the artistic conception and image of poetry, but also use vivid metaphor and personification to enhance the expressive force of language. This is a high-priced political lyric poem, which shakes the soul like thunder and inspires people to move towards the light with confidence.
