Xumishan Grottoes, Buddhist Grottoes and Temples. One of the top ten grottoes in China. National key cultural relics protection units. Located on the peak at the northern foot of Sikouzi River (called Shimenshui in ancient times) 55 kilometers northwest of Guyuan, it was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and continued to be built in the Western Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui and Tang Dynasties. Later generations repaired and renovated it and became the largest Buddhist temple site in Yuanzhou (now Guyuan). 1982 was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. 20 1 1 was rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
