The Thousand-year-old City on the Edge of Wanwangcheng —— Wanwangcheng in eastern Guangxi

With the arrival of spring, the earth is full of vitality, and the peach blossoms and Li Bai in Wang Wan City compete for beauty; Mulberry branches spit out many green leaflets; Rhododendrons and nightingales are blooming everywhere ... Wanwangcheng, a thousand-year-old city, is really a beautiful place.

On April 14, as soon as the weather cleared up, I rented a car and went to Wanwangcheng. These days, I'm a little tired and excited. When I think of it, I always want to dig out its history. ...

On page 14 of the sixty-six volumes of the unified annals of Daming, it is said: "Wanwangcheng is located in five miles northeast of Guidong County, and Wanwangcheng is unknown. According to legend, Wang once lived here, but now there are steps to build by laying bricks or stones, and there are several bamboo poles beside him, who serve every day and sweep the floor to stand again; There are peaches and plums in it, which villagers should eat in real time, sweet; But if you don't want to go or possess it, you will lose your way. "

The author wrote about Wang Zeng (Wang Xiaoxian) in the article "City of Kings Wang Xiaoxian". According to the textual research in The Origin of the Wangs in Hunan Province, "Ceng Gong was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and Song Jingyu was an official in Chen and Guangxi for two years (1035), then moved to Wanwangcheng in eastern Guangxi, and then moved to Youtongping in Yizhang." Today, I found in the book "The Unification of Daming" that "... Wang Zeng lived here ..." But whether Wang Zeng is the king of kings is still unknown.

The sunshine at noon is very warm. There is a direct expressway from Dongcheng District of Guangxi to Wanwangcheng, all paved with cement, and it only takes about 50 minutes by car.

When I was looking for an insider, I happened to meet the village cadres. After explaining my purpose, they enthusiastically found me a well-informed elder in the village.

I remember coming to Wanwangcheng for the first time four years ago. This is a narrow and rugged sand road. The weather was bad and it rained heavily all the way. When I arrived at Wanwangcheng, I was soaked to the skin ... It rained harder and harder. I came home empty-handed.

"You see, this is the tile of heaven and earth in those days," the old man said, and picked up a blue tile on the ridge of the field. Ah, this tile is so thick! It's almost 2 centimeters. This is a thousand-year-old antique. When you look at the ridge, you will find such tiles everywhere.

When I walked to the wall, I saw that only a short section was made of long strips of granite. Many people were moved to dig ditches under the eaves, build fish ponds, surround vegetable gardens and build fences ... but there are still many under the rice fields.

We came to a path, and the elder pointed to the paddy field ridge on the roadside and told me that this was the sewer in the city. I counted seven or eight in this row, all made of one stone. The elder said, a few years ago, I saw water flowing out from here.

The old man took the author to visit several families and found about hundreds of wall stones with different sizes, some long and some short, some big and some small ... Under a family's woodpile, I found a semi-stone mill with clear tooth marks, a round mouth for putting beans and a hand-grinding jack. You can tell at a glance that it is the upper part of this stone mill.

On the left side of the gate of a family, two round stone seats were found, with a round hole with a diameter of 6 cm in the middle of each stone seat and a weight of about 30 kg. Some people say that this is a weapon seat for spears or long-handled broadswords.

Not far away, we found a landslide after last year's rain in the back of a family's house, and saw a square-sized cave built with long stones around it, but the middle of the cave was embedded with two flaky stones on both sides, which was so tight that it could not be pushed open. I wonder if there is any mechanism. Very similar to the ancient tunnel entrance.

There are seven graves in the southwest of Wanwangcheng, all inscribed by Chen, named Seven Stars Accompanied by the Moon. The elder told me: According to legend, a man surnamed Chen was forced to death by the government. Buried beside Baishaao Road in Zengkou, officials of civil and military affairs must get off the sedan chair and walk, otherwise the sedan chair bar will be broken immediately. On one occasion, an official never got off the sedan chair. Sure enough, the sedan chair bar broke in two. The official was furious and asked his servant to dig up the grave. Later, the owner of the tomb told his descendants in a dream that I had moved to the edge of Wanwangcheng and would protect my descendants in the future. My grave is there, bamboo shoots will grow without bamboo, and Artemisia annua will grow on the grave. The next day, seven graves suddenly poured out of the city, but only one grave gave birth to Regong Artemisia. ...

There is a thousand-year-old horse farm outside the city, which is well preserved. The riding track is several miles long, more than ten meters wide and slightly inclined, which was used by ancient scholars to practice horse racing and archery and improve their tactics. About 50 meters next to Zouma Road, there is a stable for horses. Two tall old trees beside the house.

Horses and sergeants have feelings. Many war horse graves were found behind Wanwangcheng, all of which were connected together, one after another. The elder pointed to these horse graves and said to me, at least one hundred horses are buried here. In the past, we have seen some stone tablets standing in front of the horse grave with words on them. Now the plaque is lost.

"A city is high on Wanyang Mountain, and a tiger is frightened." . I have recorded some information and legends about Wanwangcheng in 377 volumes of the Annals of the Qing Dynasty, 66 volumes of the Annals of the Ming Dynasty, 6 volumes of the Annals of the Wanli Chenzhou, the Annals of the Jiaqing Chenzhou, the History of Flowers, the Theory of Three Long Things and the Summary of Prescription Studies.

Of course, I am not an archaeologist, let alone a literary and historical worker. Revitalizing and developing Guidong is the sacred mission of everyone in Guidong. Wanwangcheng, a thousand-year-old city, is a virgin land that has not been excavated by archaeologists. In this mysterious place, although some cultural relics have been gradually lost and damaged, many of them are still buried under the fields, where they sleep and meditate for a long time. ...

Yes, with the change of time, many places in Wanwangcheng have become fields, but the remains are still vague and scattered. I think this important cultural tourism resource in the south of the Yangtze River will show people the history as truly as possible if it can be verified and excavated by archaeologists in time. It may play an important role in the study of Song history, the history of local development and the protection of chinese heritage. This is the real value of historical relics.
